When using an advance ticket, do you have to use it EXACTLY as specified....

A couple from Southampton got a £114 for stopping "short" on an advance. See another thread.

66171 ballast train and this weekend's Chiltern engineering works

There was much work on the Chiltern Line on Sunday with the northbound line from High Wycombe being closed. Class 66171 was hauling the rail ballast wagons and I was wondering of the origins of this train ? Where was 66171 stabled and where did it go to pick up the ballast wagons ? Cheers Z

    WSMR 67s yesterday.

Saw the afternoon WSMR ( ex 1630 Marylebone) being hauled by a brightly coloured DB Schenker 67 and was wondering if one of the stock had been taken in for repairs ? Z

Kings Sutton / Banbury easement ?

High Wycombe - Oxford journey. Is there an easement in place which would allow you to change at Banbury for XC trains or do you have to change at Kings Sutton onto FGW ? cheers.

How punctual are the trains on the Hope Valley Line ?

Going to attempt to catch the 18:36 Hope - Sheffield (arr 19:03) which connects to the 1924 Sheffield - Birmingham New Street. I really don't want to miss the latter or else I will be stuffed, hence, me possibly hedging my bets and getting an earlier train from Hope. Cheers.

How punctual are the trains on the Hope Valley Line ?

Hi, Are the trains punctual on this most scenic of lines ? I don't want to miss a connection at Sheffield so should I catch an earlier train from Hope station or stick with the one which is due to connect with my Sheffield train ? I can allow for the Hope train to be 20 minutes late. TIA Z

Can manned ticket offices sell you tickets between any two different stations ?

Thanks gents. Some ambiguity in my original post. I don't want the cheaper "ADVANCE" tickets which come with seat reservations I would like Off Peak Day Returns and Off Peak Returns for journeys on future dates. Will these come printed with the date on which I intend to travel on that specific...

Can manned ticket offices sell you tickets between any two different stations ?

For example if I was at my local station "A" could the manned ticket office sell me any of the range of tickets available between "B" and "C" where "B" and "C" are any two stations on the network ? I'll be doing a lot of travelling in the next week and would like to buy three sets of tickets...

Transport from Wool (Dorset) station ?

Thanks for the info folks. @ paul1609 A group of us are planning the very same walk from Lulworth Cove along the Jurassic coast line to Weymouth. Wool to Lulworth seems to be walkable distance but the OS map does not show any direct footpaths. We will endeavour to time our arrival to...

Transport from Wool (Dorset) station ?

Hi, I would like to get from Wool station to Lulworth ( Lulworth cove) and was wondering if the station has a taxi service on premises or close by ? I've checked and buses are very intermittent so taxi seems the best bet. Thanks.

No Boundary Zone 6 fares from Three Bridges?

I assume that the price of the "BZ6 - Destination Station" ticket is the same as the "Last Station in Z6 - Destination Station" ticket. i.e. the BZ6 - High Wycombe ticket costing the same as a West Ruislip - High Wycombe ticket ?

Boundary Zone 6 ticket extension validity

Apologies if this question has already been asked but if you have a Z1-6 Travelcard and you want to travel to a station way beyond the last station in Zone 6 does you train have to stop at the "Boundary 6" station for your extension ticket to be valid. If I had a One Day Travelcard from High...

High Wycombe to Berwick-upon-Tweed via Glasgow / Edinburgh ?

Gents, What would the reaction of the average gripper be if he came across someone with this ticket between Carlisle and Edinburgh ? Would the fact that the HWY-BWK ( OPR not London £111.40) being more expensive than the HWY - EDB ( OPR not London £110.80) be enough to convince him of the...

High Wycombe to Berwick-upon-Tweed via Glasgow / Edinburgh ?

Afternoon folks. I've just been messing about on Trainline and asked for a HWY - Berwick via Carlisle ticket and was surprisingly offered the said ticket but instead of being allowed the HWY-CAR-HEX-NCL route the journey I was given was route Glasgow or Edinburgh. I was just wondering if this...

Penalty Fare advice - please help!

Just to highlight the difference in attitude wrt other TOCs. Chiltern are very flexible regarding situations like this. The High Wycombe - West Ruislip fare is the same as HWY - South Ruislip even though the latter is one stop ahead on the line. I've often spoken to the resident rippers and...
