WSMR 67s yesterday.

Saw the afternoon WSMR ( ex 1630 Marylebone) being hauled by a brightly coloured DB Schenker 67 and was wondering if one of the stock had been taken in for repairs ?

It's 67018 "Keith Heller": It's apparently on hire to Wrexham and Shropshire all week, started work with them on Saturday. It's being reported here:

Don't know if there's problems with one of the regular W&S fleet members causing it's use.

Well when I travelled to London last Friday morning our loco (not sure which one it was) was failing and we ended up an hour late arriving at Marylebone.

Dont I know, its far too early a time to be up for a train. Aslong as it came back on 1J84 18:30 tonight it should work the diagram you have said.

010 has been poorly too but I believe its on its way back as long as it proves itself 1st. Thought 14 was on the spare set at Wembley?

15 is on the spare set at WLMD, 14 is at Crewe on a "C" exam and some ugrade mods, 10 was on the Northern Belle and also seen light engine on the WCML yesterday I believe so hopefully will be back for tomorrow.

You're very lucky my lunch time service was cancelled the other week. I was supposed to have joined at Tamebridge Parkway. Instead travelled LM to New Street, walked to Moor St and got a Chiltern to Marylebone. As a 1st class passenger I got nothing out of WSMR, they didn't give a toss. This was my first time with them and now my last. Never again!!

Instead travelled LM to New Street, walked to Moor St and got a Chiltern to Marylebone. As a 1st class passenger I got nothing out of WSMR, they didn't give a toss. This was my first time with them and now my last. Never again!!

We have not cancelled a train in some weeks so I can only assume that you were trying to catch one of the services that Network Rail diverted away from Tame Bridge recently due to signalling cable theft.

I can assure you that we certainly do care and I am sure that if you contact the customer services team they will arrange a full refund or another ticket for you. If you believe that you have already done this and we have declined then please contact me directly.

What happened last Saturday (14th) to the first service from Marylebone? They didn't have much breakfast, so I ordered toast, it came and she said it had no butter I was looking forward to your breakfast

The train in question was the 13.02 from Tamebridge Parkway on Thursday 15th July, just 5 weeks ago. It was due to a loco failure according to station staff.

Indeed we did regretably cancel 2 trains on that day due to a parking brake fault on a DVT shortly after departing from Marylebone.

You did not confirm whether you had contacted us for any compensation?

The staff onboard said it was because the sets got swapped at Wembley or something. I also travelled on the Wednesday 11th from Shrewsbury - London and I was very happy with the food and the customer service Out of curiosity when we got to Bham Intl we went into the slow platform, waited almost 10 minutes then a Virgin pendolino arrived and left and we crawled behind it to coventry. Is that meant to happen? I was on an All Line Rover with someone not that interested in trains and she said that out of all of the Intercity trains we travelled on yours were the best

I take it you were out on tuesday? I got caught up in it too, lots of people did but you cant blame WSMR for it, it was NR making a diversion because of cable theiving scum

Its at Shrewsbury tonight so will work the 09:07 extra in the morning. 010 is at bescot with a pair of 90's and 14 has worked down to swap for the poorly 015 at wembley so that should work the 1st down in the morning.

1P13 was indeed running early at Stechford and the VT was about 2-3 mins late.

That was my one that day TDK, if I remember correctley, we got to stechford and we where quite supprised to get the run, then on the approach to International we got cautioned and put around the back into 4, waited for about 3-4mins for the Plastic to turn up and then waited for it to depart after about 3 mins. He was about 8 mins down by that time and by the time we left we where about 4 down. I remember chatting to one of the passengers whilst we waited at International and commenting on how it would have been better if they had given us the run to Coventry infront instead of us holding up the pendo whilst we slowed off to go around the back at International.

That does seem odd regulation, you should have easily have got to Cov without causing any grief to the Pendo. Even with the crawl on to the branch it shouldnt have caused any issues.

WSMR are easily the best railway company in the UK in terms of the comfort and general onboard ambience (although still a long way behind Swiss railways in that regard, which tells you all you need to know about the state of British railways).

However, it's a real shame that even on WSMR the seats in 2nd class don't line up with the windows, just in order to pack another couple of seats into each carriage.

No, you haven't. And I'm almost certain that the tables DO line up with the windows.

However, it's a real shame that even on WSMR the seats in 2nd class don't line up with the windows, just in order to pack another couple of seats into each carriage.

The refurbished WSMR mark 3s have less seats than the coaches carried previously. In fact they have reverted to almost exactly the same seating layout as the vehicles had when they were built. When the coaches were given their first refurbishment by Intercity a lot more airline style seating was inserted and this has remained the case in subsequent, post privatisation refurbishments; with the exception of that done for WSMR.

The window alignment is a separate issue, intrinsic to the mark 3 design. At the time they were built the decision was made to construct identical bodyshells for both the first and second class coaches. This means that all coaches were given the first class window spacing, meaning that the seats in second class mark 3s have never lined up properly with the windows and they never will.
