Just received a nice surprise from East Coast. 2 free first class tickets for anywhere on their network. Is anyone else getting these? Here's the email I got: The T&Cs are the same as the old rewards tickets used to be.

CrossCountry First Class - Ticket or Pass?

Travelling on a CrossCountry service today, the first class host asked me whether I held a ticket or a pass. He was only offering the sandwiches to ticket holders. Passholders (such as BritRail, I presume) were not being offered the menu, just tea and coffee. I had a normal walkup ticket, as it...

Over distance excess with change of route

Advances - change of date/time; ticket office very slow

I went to a ticket office today to change the date and time of an advance ticket from 4/3/14 22:45 to 5/3/14 19:15. Straight forward, you may think. It took the clerk (plus everyone else in the office giving advice) the best part of half an hour to do the changeover, much to the consternation...

    Incorrect Railcard on Ticket

Afternoon all, This morning I purchased a Disabled Person's Railcard discounted Pershore to Gatwick Airport Off-Peak Day Return from a booking office (not Pershore). The clerk accidentally issued it with an "SNR" (Senior Railcard) discount. On pointing it out to her, the clerk said "It's the...

National Rail Enquiries - Interesting First Class fare

I'm travelling from Ledbury to Alvechurch today and was just looking up the times when I was offered the most amazing deal in first class for this journey. No doubt a bargain, especially since first class is only available on a few trains, and then only as far as Worcester.

    Positive Experiences Around Leeds

On Sunday I travelled on a Hereford to Starbeck Off Peak Return as far as Leeds, where I stopped for the night before resuming the next day, to Starbeck for a meeting. I travelled back yesterday and today, in the same way. The ticket I used has restriction 8A, which allows any time travel but...

A friend of mine has written a book entitled "50 Railroads that Changed the World". To clarify, the publisher (based in the USA) will do the style, grammar and spelling work, we're...

    Some Interesting Fares

Those with access to the fares database (if you don't have access you can buy it online or from any bookshop - it's called Avantix Traveller NFM11) might be interested in the fare from Bordon to Liphook - I think the off-peak day return is particularly good value (restriction B3). I wonder if...

    Off Peak (SVR) Restriction Codes

Hi, Other than 8A, 8E, 8X, 2T and 4C, what other restriction codes exist for Off-Peak (SVR) tickets that effectively allow peak travel? I know there's some (like 8X) which have a very early cut off, which for all intents and purposes means they are available in the peak. Thanks.
