Over distance excess with change of route

I was pleased, and frankly a little surprised today when King's Cross ticket office efficiently issued a zero fare over distance excess which also had a change of route. Original ticket was London to Hereford. Excess was London to Leominster.

Well done East Coast! Are they normally this efficient?
