Conversely, one of the sheppy diagrams this week is 455s and ends on 1S77 woking via staines (normally 444 or 450). Whenever I catch that I see a lot of late-nighters on it queuing for the toilets, so they're going to have a surprise!
Ah ok. I suppose as someone said, pickup only at rdg on down and set down on the up could reduce the load between there and London, but that's a difficult thing to police on a busy station I guess
Just had a short (~30min) go on 039. Smooth ride, but those bay seating placements are terrible aren't they. Why didn't they just put one more row of airlines in behind them and then they'd line up.!?
It actually feels better sitting in the aisle seat of the bay tbh, at least you're not looking...
I was more referring to the decision they made at the point when the 458/4 became available. Obviously once the 701 come out to play en masse it will no longer be a problem, as you say.
The obvious thing to do would be put them on Portsmouth - comfortable 2+2 seating, carpet, tables, all conducive to the longer journey, and take the higher capacity 450s that they displace and put those on the suburban instead - until the 701s are ready to replace them of course.

Today's 5Q95 Eastleigh - Widnes appears to be at a stand for over an hour now on the up slow just outside Woking.

57310 with (I assume) 8503. Dragging brake again perhaps?
Thanks. On 2s20 now. Just passed Feltham and there's 2x8 still on the yard.
Initial thoughts - theyve done a pretty decent refurb.
Yes, the refurb, but the turd around it has all been left - the rotten windows, rusty heater vents, tired toilets. Can't knock the chaps at Widnes though, they only...
