GWR Cornish Night Riviera Sleeper and GWR Class 57 updates from Long Rock

Definitely something going on, as there's also paths in for a (GBRf operated) return trip of an IET on the same morning from Paddington to Euston and back, via Oxford/Bicester/east-west rail/Bletchley.

GWR Cornish Night Riviera Sleeper and GWR Class 57 updates from Long Rock

Looks like more issues last night - although 602 took the empty set down to pnz in the daytime without issue, it appears the up sleeper last night was replaced with an iet, and the empty set looks to have not long left there to come back up to Reading tcd?

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

What's the status of 001, anyone know? Last I heard was many moons ago when there was rumour of it being taken to Horsham for overnight testing/traction training? --- @WWTownEnth For your records, 508 was dragged back to Litchurch last week. (mk1 eyeball)

Isle of Wight Island line: speculation/suggestions/potential improvements

I take it they won't do a 40/20 anymore because they've not got the resources ?

Isle of Wight Island line updates/news

Are they not able to do a 40/20 service anymore?

Isle of Wight Island line updates/news

This sounds then, like it's time we (island residents and non-residents alike) leant on the local MP, and try to get this promised service reliably into place, especially now the government has taken ownership. So much money has been spent to arrive at this goal, it'd be a shame for it to stall...

Isle of Wight Island line updates/news

Let's hope this next closure actually includes track realignment that would allow for faster running thus reinstating the 30 minute service. It's that or have the egg remain on their faces after forking out for the Brading doubling etc !

Had problems taking pictures of the railways?

What it needs is a dozen or so gathering to all meet up there some time, and take a few photos, as you do. Just sensibly and legally. What they gonna do then?

SWR outgoing Metro fleet withdrawals (complete)

I wondered this too.! At least one service the other day was 8-455, stopped in p3 at vir, however the departure boards still showed the service, and people were just stood on the platform pressing the door buttons that obviously weren't going to open.!! A phrase springs to mind, ending with the...

Isle of Wight Island line updates/news

Surely they'd worked all this out during testing of the stock etc, before the 484s entered service on the refurbed line?

Isle of Wight Island line updates/news

Ah. Picking my moment to go over soon, it's a long way and involves a couple of trains and the cat (don't really like the hover), so sounds like tomorrow wouldn't be the best day to choose then

Isle of Wight Island line updates/news

This is what I was wondering about. How long is it likely to stay like this before/if returning to a full service, and why?

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Guessing they've chosen not to reverse and go up the main now, it's amended to go via Staines/Richmond.

SWR Class 458 to be retained

And passing by it initially according to the working - continuing to, and spending an hour at Waterloo, before coming back down to wim pk (via Point Pleasant)

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Ah OK, say no more. (I was only asking because it was reported as track works. If I'd known it was an opinc I wouldn't have asked for details.)

SWR Class 458 to be retained

No I think the trap points are OK, they're on because the road is set for 2S46 to cross in front of it, they'll be safety interlocked with those.

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Would anyone know if something has happened involving 421+423 on last night's 5Y66? They left WYB bay but then went back in, and still there now. I know SWR are saying urgent track repairs, but I couldn't see any repairs taking place as I passed. I'm assuming the issue would have been there, as...

SWR Class 458 to be retained

These allocations of how many diagrams of this stock works where, and for how long etc., is any of this likely to change again after the 25th when the franchise ends? Or not really?
