Thank you!Planned for the diagram 04:54 Crewe to Cardiff, 8:49 Cardiff-Manchester, 12:30 Manchester to Cardiff, 16:49 Cardiff to Manchester, 20:30 Manchester to Crewe.

As in a loco change at Cardiff or a whole change from a unit? And here we are! 67016's first passenger service with TfW, 1W60 1455 Swansea - Manchester (from Cardiff to Manchester)
Was a set swap from Canton replacing a a unit.As in a loco change at Cardiff or a whole change from a unit?
67015 had that as it's test run after repairs as it was obviously successful it ran straight onto ATC and is now the north recovery loco.Today at Crewe depot (7/10/24):
67014 connected to HD01
67020 connected to HD04
67015 has arrived light engine. Wasn't meant to be here by the looks of it - ran 0Z67 from Crewe IEMD to Crewe IEMD.
Hopefully it'll last for the 3 weeks before my trip to Crewe for a hopefully comfy trip and some meals in first.. we'll have to see!Once 01 is released tomorrow all of HD01-06 are then available for service so there can be both a Canton and Crewe spare.
other than ad-hoc covering then I believe the plan is still December Timetable change for it to come in full time.Is there any news on the fifth diagram?
Where did 67016 and 67014 have the problems? All 7 sets are moving today, not sure that's ever happened before. There's been a few loco swaps too following failures of 67014 and 67016 at Crewe.
67015+HD01 should work https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:15186/2024-10-08/detailed as a trial run later.
HD02, HD03, HD04 and HD05 are in service while 67025+HD06 are planned to work 19:10 Crewe to Cardiff vice 197 later. 06 should also work 14:49 Cardiff to Manchester and return vice 197 tomorrow.
67025 (since swapped to HD06)+HD07 ran earlier from Crewe ETD to Crewe ATC for exam.
Broken 67016 will be hauled by fellow almost as broken but not quite 67014 later or tomorrow back to Crewe ETD for repairs.
014 had issues near Stockport on Saturday, 016 was spare today so was on the depot.Where did 67016 and 67014 have the problems?
Yes, amended the original post, loco swap done quicker than originally thought so its ready for the inbound rather than just the return.Seems 67025 + HD06 is swapping onto the diagram before! Means we get a MK4 departure off Manchester at 18:30 for once!
Both where on sets atWhere did 67016 and 67014 have the problems?
Looks like it'll be reschedule for tomorrow. Not enough spare crews to do 2 preps simultaneously with HD06 going out earlier. HD01 was the planned Crewe spare anyway tomorrow so operationally it makes little difference. Not getting HD06 off would have meant either W23 or W65 would have to be subbed to avoid overloading Crewe.Test run with 67015 set 1
Hasn’t left as yet
Nevermind! It's out running 171 downLooks like it'll be reschedule for tomorrow. Not enough spare crews to do 2 preps simultaneously with HD06 going out earlier. Plan C seemingly! At least it means they've all been out today and will be 6 available tomorrow. Still showing as cancelled due to train crew on RTT.Nevermind! It's out running 171 down![]()
Not many door or brake issues to affect on a flying aircraft though. Most of the faults on these (or other fleets) don't see them suddenly completely lose power and that's it.If airplanes had as many problems as these locos and carriages there would be many people dead
How long will it last though based on exam timings for them all? HD05 has seemingly gone fine for a long while which is a good sign..Plan C seemingly! At least it means they've all been out today and will be 6 available tomorrow. Still showing as cancelled due to train crew on RTT.
Planes have doors and brakes, maybe they're better engineered or maintainedNot many door or brake issues to affect on a flying aircraft though. Most of the faults on these (or other fleets) don't see them suddenly completely lose power and that's it.
Unless they are manufactured by BoeingPlanes have doors and brakes, maybe they're better engineered or maintained
Can't disagree with you there!Unless they are manufactured by Boeing![]()
Obviously! The reality is though that the systems are fail safe and therefore come to a stop on a train, with brakes jammed on or door issues not allowing the train to move. On the aircraft analogy it would be stuck on the tarmac and wouldn't be able to take off, therefore people wouldn't be dead as per the original post.Planes have doors and brakes, maybe they're better engineered or maintained
I don't want to jinx things (!) But exams are now much better balanced and if a set does have to wait a day or 2 it's now held at Crewe ETD rather than Holyhead which saves ages. Also using the wheel lathe there rather than Canton saves an age too, as it doesn't have to travel from the exam and also the Crewe lathe will take the rake as it comes but the Canton one requires it splitting and putting back together. How long will it last though based on exam timings for them all? HD05 has seemingly gone fine for a long while which is a good sign..
Or maybe you don’t understand much about the engineering behind the different forms of transport ?Planes have doors and brakes, maybe they're better engineered or maintained
