At the moment yes but I believe from September night buses are returning on 17/17a and 135. The 17 is currently run by Oldham depot but the night service will be operated by Queens road.

Dogged with issues sadly. Suspension is terribly bouncy. Long running issues with brakes, Abs, gearbox’s, doors - the list is endless. Both Firsts and Stagecoach’s have been back and forth to Mellor and Mercedes countless times.
Should move the 17/18 back all day imo.

It's an awful lot easier to lob a spare in when Shudehill is gridlocked starting from Queens Road than it is Oldham!
That won’t happen given how short Queens road are on buses. Although from a staff changeover point of view it would be easier running from Queens road.

Is it likely that the 10 plate Citaros with Go Ahead are to be withdrawn this week due to reaching the age limit and schools finishing for summer?

Are any Bee Network routes currently run from more than one depot, or even by more than one operator?
Route 142 - Daytime operations done by Hyde Road, however Sharston do the night buses from around midnight to 4am, which has been the case on this route for years. Also, various school services are ran by multiple depots and operators.

With no replacement? Wouldn't be surprsed if that carry on with a dispensation, much like the 58/09 plate Enviro 400s with Stagecoach and the 58 plate Volvo B9TLs with Metroline until a suitable replacement is available

11512 has in the past few minutes been involved in a bridge strike at Barton bridge (52 route). It was doing a 100 service at the time. There’s no reports of serious injury’s but the bus was pretty full I’m told.
The roof has been totally removed.

Tracking on bustimes suggests that it has turned right onto Barton Lane from Barton Road instead of carrying straight on. Bridge is 11’6’’. Hope everyone is OK.

Needs to be one of those bus gates like in Runcorn where they have a barrier but it goes down for cars and vans, and doesn't move for buses

Single decker buses still need to go under the bridge (the 52 and 66), and it's a relatively busy road compared to letting vehicles in one at a time by barrier.

There is an audible system by way of chains hanging down from a horizontal beam, but I think the one at the Barton Road end is too close to the bridge due to the proximity of the crossroads.

Question is, do those buses have a bridge warning system fitted (either enabled via Ticketer or a separate warning system), as that should have gone off on the approach to the junction. If so, that would have been two warnings that were ignored.

From what I can gather and seen recently from when I've gone past apart from the hight restriction signs on Bridgewater Way side of the Bridge there's nothing else to warn of the heigh restriction of the bridge as the chains were ripped off in a previous incident with the bridge along with the wooden beam with the Yellow/Black Chevrons just before the bridge have gone as well and never have been replaced.

If anyone looks on Streetview they will know what I mean.

Why the 100 doesn't go down Barton Lane, it continues straight down Bridgewater Way, for some reason the driver turned right at that junction into Barton Lane, & has some serious explaining to do.
The most likely occurrence is the driver thought he was on a 52, that goes under the bridge with single deckers, rather than a 100 that goes past the bridge but not under.
There’s no excuse for what’s happened but as both service's are run from the same depot there are duties where you do 52’s and 100’s in the same duty.

Perhaps its about time the 52 was rerouted away from it??

There's a video on FarceBook (which I aren't going to share, you'll be able to find it I'm sure if you want too) of it coming through, it certainly took the driver long enough to realise... The amount of folk sat upstairs is frightening...

I’ve seen it and it’s shocking.

Tbh given how congested Trafford road is most of the time with parked cars it would make more sense to terminate all 52’s at Eccles or re-route it.

Quite...

I wonder how many buses have actually hit that bridge over the years? Clearly one is too many but I'm curous to know if we've got to double figures yet?

There have been at least 4 incidents since deregulation in 1986, and there was possibly an incident before involving a Weaste Depot based ANA---Y Northern Counties Atlantean in the early 1980's. The easiest solution is to divert all bus services away from Barton Lane, that way any confusion between a decker and a saloon is removed, except both the Diamond incidents were buses taking a short cut back to their depot on Lyntown Industrial Estate, so maybe not. It would be obvious a decker can't fit under that bridge just looking at it, but presumably some drivers think they are driving a saloon, because they are more used to driving those, or simply forget.

There were at least 3 incidents in the 1960s two involving North Western Fleetlines and one a Manchester Corporation PD2 which is why all 22 journeys were eventually re routed away from it

That would mean Trafford Road wouldn't have a bus service.
