Yesterday I was rather perturbed when I saw an advert for "sexy mens' mesh and lace" clothing. I cannot remember the name of the retailer, but it seemed so bizarre that I probably did the wrong thing and clicked on it. (If it earns the forum a few pennies, I'll take one for the team!)

As it turned out, the clothing advertised was fairly innocuous, but definitely not to my taste. If I was 20 years younger and going to places like Heaven I don't think there would be a problem, but if I wore such garments to my local "Ritzy" I'd probably end up leaving with head injuries!

28 Days Weight Loss Challenge!

A little bit unfair I thought…

"Danish Design Furniture at BoConcept Newcastle". No, advert, despite your best efforts, I will not travel 300 miles each way to get Scandinavian furniture, I can just go to the local IKEA.
I also have an advert for Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. I wish the adverts would make up their minds as to whether I need Pearson GCSE materials or a university place...

Another badly directed ad at the top of my Outlook inbox:
"Stagecoach Performing Arts - Schools Near Banbury. 2 Week Trial. Acting, Singing and Dancing Classes For Ages 4-18."

Presumably this is based on my search for 'Stagecoach (South East) updates' (when I type in Stagecoach, South East comes up) but 'Banbury' defeats me, I don't live in a place with a name like Banbury, I have been searching for places, but primarily in Kent and SE London, otherwise Cumbria and the Wirral. I have searched for 'cake' within a supermarket website but that is stretching it and why they should think I or any immediate family should be aged 4 to 18 I have no idea when I am more likely to be searching for retirement homes (if just to convince myself they would be one of my worst nightmares). And my skills in acting, singing and dancing are so poor, I would fail an audition for a corpse, even if unconscious; only my rendition of 'Billericay Dickie' and other Dury songs would be acceptable; and 'Dad dancing' is an ambition.

Incidentally, if anyone from Stagecoach SE is reading this, 'Service updates' was last updated on 17 May 2022 at 16.05, all work was expected to have been completed 4 weeks ago. Not much use to me when I planned a trip for Tuesday now finding that the first bus will be stopping nowhere near the stop I intended to catch it at. Moan, moan.

It briefly offered me a link to job application forms for part-time caring.
No thank you.
Now it's offering me "recruitment marketing engagement".
No thank you.
It's also offering me things from a company called "Splif and O'Reilly".
No thank you...

I wish I could have those - these adverts are driving me mad. It's now offering me a six-bed property in West Byfleet.
If they were a lot cheaper they'd be a handy novelty clock for pubs and cafes near stations. But I wouldn't know which platform you'd set it for,

Just had one for the Hong Kong Tourist Board

I was amused because we already have a poster determined to point out how wonderful Hong Kong is, but also the fact that Hong Kong is only open to tourism subject to a 7-14 day quarantine hotel stay... no thanks Beijing!

I don't usually notice the adverts but the current one is for some live departure boards.

More widely my favourite adverts are those trying to encourage me to buy something I've just bought.

They come up because I was doing research. As I've purchased the item the advert is wasted but at least I'm not seeing one that wouldn't be.

I also get adverts on YouTube targeted to women. I'm a bloke and I don't have an interest in them but again, I don't mind if they want to waste their time on me.

I think the forum ads like me, right now I'm getting M&M Direct with menswear and sportswear advertised. Funnily enough I am in the market for some quality footwear, my Nike Downshifters (running shoes) were an absolute bargain in a JD sale a year and a bit back at £35. They are showing serious signs of wear now though on the soles, however kudos must go to the manufacturers as they're absolutely fantastically made and I'm still conquering the world in them :D

I’m getting this on every page:B3712D28-2608-4569-86AA-3E0C497ED56D.jpeg

Plus I’m not a fan of a basic layout of a Google ad banner with an obligatory blue “Open” button:

I do feel like that Google makes the ads (or at least Google generates the ads).

I just had an advert in Dutch (or possibly Flemish) for a job as a Norwegian interpreter. I don't speak any of those languages!

There is usually a dog advert on local newspaper websites such
as Reach which bothers me, this is one of the examples:

A year or so ago local newspaper websites also had several
annoying senior benefits ad provided by Taboola, like this one:

I walked into a tobacconist and soon after started getting adverts popping up for Nicorette patches. How do they know? One for the government tracking your life conspiracy theorists.

I've got an advert at the top of this very thread telling me that "Police Scotland is recruiting now".
As a retired person living in southern England, I don't think I'll be following this one up.

Van leasing, womens clothing and the real time departure board for your office. I suppose at least one of them is semi relevant!

If you have the right things enabled on an Android device, Google keeps track of where you've been. https://support.google.com/gmm/?p=maps_location_settings - and for some time, too (I haven't had an Android in some time yet the places I've been with one are still there)
