I've just had one for automatic milking machinery.

I have no interest in dairy farming, live in an urban area and have not browsed any sites even vaguely connected with that industry or product. Any tenuous connection with railways ended when the last milk trains ran (in the 1960s?).

Indeed. I used to block ads but these days I really don't bother, unless the site is over the top with them.

Indeed. I was surprised to learn some years back that the revenue brought in by these forum ads is more than enough to cover hosting costs, and support some other forum activities/meets too. They are quite innocuous in terms of their placement and scale, though their content can, of course, vary.

As I have a wall of adblockers and javascript censors on my browser, in the pastI've offered to pay a membership fee to this forum. (This idea was politely declined at the time.)

Yes, I've been lucky enough to have the forum pay for my coffee and snack at a Fares Workshop, although I'd have been happy to pay myself and even contribute to the Forum Staff expenses.

Current ad for me is Jobrapido. "Latest jobs in [blank]. Find all jobs in [blank]" I'm retired and definitely not looking for work.

The ad currently at the bottom of the page is offering shoes from M&M Direct. It's relevant because I've bought from them in the past; somewhat spooky because I was thinking last night that the soles on my walking boots are getting rather worn!

Funny you mention dairy machinery, I bought some 1:24 scale plastic cows off eBay a few months ago and got spammed by milking machine adverts for a few weeks after

I've had similar things, with a twist: searched on Ebay for nuclear flask wagons, and for weeks my banner ads on here were either for Thermos-type flasks... or "prepper" supplies!

The exact same ad came up for me while browsing this site at around 4:30pm today, so probably more likely to be for the latter reason you mention

Occasionally I do see an advert that's somewhat related to websites I've visited. However, on the rare occasions that I buy something off Amazon, it's a bit pointless advertising the item(s) I bought the next day!

That is spooky - I have the same ad at the bottom of this page. I never buy shoes online but I did buy a new pair of work shoes from a shop last week...

I'll admit that if it wasn't for the company name being present (and the description you've given) i'd have thought it was an ad for something nsfw, especially given the ads choice of image.

I had an ad about prestressed concrete at the bottom of this thread, and for some reason the forum seems to think i'm interested in concrete today (i've attached an example of the ad i'm seeing to this post).

Outside the forum i'm getting ads about finding relationships (something i've no interest in) or hotels abroad (but stragnely nothing from airlines).

Interestingly, when the keyboard pops up on my phone to type, the advert changes to a smaller one about discounted used auto-sleepers (which I think are a type of motorhome?), but I can't screenshot it because trying to do so gets rid of the keyboard, and it then switches back to concrete panels!

I see that i'm not the only one getting concrete ads. That seems very odd for it to give a different ad when the keyboard pops up, I just get the same ad irrespective of wether the keyboard is up or not.

A quick Google search gives auto sleepers as a type of motorhome, and also listing a business in Willersey of the same name.
