Not as if they’re all being scrapped like the 455s will most likely be - at least one of the DTSOs from 345 was preserved by the East Anglia Railway Museum. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll miss the 317s, but it’s not as if I won’t be able to see (part of) one again!

Usually one booked on the 0900 1200 1500 Stratford to Bishops Stortford services and the Meridian Water workings in between. Those services they work. However Usually also locally on 1209 1409 1609 ex Hertford East to London Liverpool Street as well. 1153 1513 ex Cambridge services as well.
To London Liverpool Street have been previously all this week.
Personally when those services work out which time at Tottenham Hale including the return working to corrosponde with them and can catch from there or even Broxbourne.
1200 will be 317511+317337 and 1209 up from Hertford is 317340+317339. Someone has been busy putting up labels on 317340 which read "Farewell British Rail Class 317."

Reading the above post got me thinking - does anybody know if all 48 of the first series units worked out of both Fenchurch Street and Moorgate at some point?
I know the LTS had, in theory, dedicated units with a green stripe in lieu of a red one - but I seem to recall Thameslink used 1 or 2 pairs daily for peak Moorgate workings.
Any info welcomed.

Yes moorgate did to Bedford and in the peak can remember in first capital connect days. Also remember occasionally to Norwich. But quite common also earlier to Harwich on the boat trains. Moorgate can remember the 3173 series most certainly there the ones allocated to First Capital Connect.
Also St pancras high level if low level was ever closed.

Fenchurch Street workings were by a distinct fleet specifically allocated to the route.
The first series were built for the Bedford route in the early 1980s.
As regards Fenchurch Street, there were about 20 units based at East Ham in the late 1990s. They moved away when the 357s arrived but then the 357s were grounded for a few months so three random pairs of 317s were hired in from WAGN each day. I can personally account for around 30 of them so it seems likely that all 48 did run to Fenchurch Street. However I have no way of proving it.
The first build of class 317s were originally for the BedPan service which included trains to/from Moorgate so all of 317301-348 will have worked there.
The first chapter of class 317 operation to/from Bedford ended with the start of Thameslink in 1988, but class 317s to/from Bedford have had more comebacks than Frank Sinatra which I think are off topic here.

317347 317504 the other pair in action on the 1513 from Cambridge North to London liverpool Street also will form the 1735 and 1905 Express from Broxbourne to London liverpool Street this evening.

Recently just Saturdays only since early April only one diagramm was used with a pair on the Stansted Express. However last Saturday sadly non was out. Even weekdays this week has only 6 out. It could be a strong possibility now no more out at weekends. Unless a Very short term use of one is needed ie 720 failure. However weekends looking like possible they could have finally finished on booked workings.

317347 was with 317504 again on the Hertford east lines.
However 317338 was with 317508 on the bishops stortford to Stratford services but only to around mid day due to a fault on 317508. Which on Friday afternoon saw 720568 take over.
However 317347 might have been Friday 03rd June 2022.
Unless it was out Saturday 04 june 2022. Because a pair on Saturday was on the Hertford east turn due to a 720 playing Stansted Express.

Last day for 317347 was Friday. I would assume that 317504 is safe otherwise why split it off 317347? It seems likely that the other scrappers are 317507, 317510, 317884 and 317886.

I would say so. Also 317886 and 317507 haven't been in service in ages.
Surprisingly 317347 has been pulled.
317884 has been away a little as well.
317510 has run recently but not for past fortnight or so? Plus also hasant been in recent health.
However if today can produce 10 sets.
Leaving no spare capacity whatsoever if anything else fails 317 wise or 720 wise?
Obviously you need 1 spare for rescue duties. Also with changes of temperature due to weather conditions 720s don't like. Not the best of decisions to send 6 in a large hit to ely.
Especially as 317347 is a good runner.

I am in Cambridge tomorrow between 11am and 3.30pm, is there any chance of seeing any 317s working in that period?
The 1153 Cambridge North to Liverpool Street and 1328 back down should be 317s. The 1113 up from Cambridge North is worth keeping an eye on too.

Yes most certainly would say so 1153 Cambridge north to London liverpool Street is a good one to produce and still usually diagrammed to be one.
Plus hopefully a few more might occur especially as 720 are covering for 745 in Stansteds recently. However 1153 does return for 1513 Cambridge north to London liverpool Street as well. More than sure you will come across one on that circuit.

317501+317343 are on the 1113 up and 317502+317506 are the 1153 up. 317343 is well worth a ride in the motor coach.

I went through Cambridge North at about 11.05 and 317343 and 317501 were parked in Platform 3.
When I arrived at Cambridge 317502 and 317506 were heading North.
317881 and 317347 were parked up in the Station Sidings.
I then headed to my meeting but got back to the Station slightly early, at around 2.50, so managed to jump on 502 and 506 to Cambridge North to meet my train South to Kings Cross.
I did pass a pair heading North but couldn’t confirm their numbers by sight.
When I arrived at Cambridge 317502 and 317506 were heading North.
317881 and 317347 were parked up in the Station Sidings.
