As I recall it was billed as the class 315 commemorative event, specifically because it wasn't going to be the last day in service. Lots of enthusiasts simply assumed incorrectly it was their last day of operation.

I just hope it doesn't get subbed out for a 345 at the last second.... hypothetically it could happen but seriously hoping that it won't

Both remaining pairs came out to play this evening.

1735 ex London was 856 and 837.
1804 ex London was 857 and 853.

Probably the first time in 42 years, on their penultimate day in service, that 100% of the fleet have worked!

C315PS confirmed tomorrow will be the last planned day (as was already known) for the 315s in service (and it's obvious they won't come out again for service again). MTREL are having BTP and plain-clothed officers on the last services tomorrow. So it's obvious it will be packed on the 18:05 and people are willing to get railway property they are not supposed to... on a positive note I'm hoping to do it but all my friends have backed out (because of the knowledge there will be a lot of enthusiasts there, as well as doing the last 319s to Northampton) which is a shame but it won't stop me really and hope tomorrow will be a short but good time tomorrow.

They have worked 100% all this week and a number of times in the past when needed in MTR operation. Tomorrow they will be withdrawn and decommissioned. They have served well and for far longer than originally planned.

Interesting to see 315 turnout.
However another final milestone dont forget is the 1818 IT54 London Marylebone to Oxford class 68 locomotive Hauled service. Probably the final ever booked Locomotive Hauled service to run to Oxford as well.
Including mk3 coaches as well.
Bringing a end to coaching stock services to Oxford. However farewell 315. All happens at once doesn't it.

Final withdrawal five and a half years after the replacement stock entered service is absolutely appalling on TFL and Alstom's behalf, but speaks well of the old things I guess. I hope everyone who wanted to see them off today was able to.

315853 and 857 are at Liverpool Street to form the 1734, so the honour of last ever 315 service goes to 315837 and 856 on the 1804 barring a last-minute disaster.

I'm going to enjoy 837's Brush motors one last time.

I used to work in Ilford and commuted on the 315s every day. They’re not bad at all and have done very well to last 42 years.

The 315s got a reprieve by covering for nine car 345s, which themselves were covering seven car 345s going back to Derby. So it's not down to Alstom - they delivered the 345s as required.
