Nice solid BR design and equipped with British manufactured traction equipment served the GE commuters well. There up there with some of the longest served 25kV AC british EMUs.
Now down to the 318's to carry the torch.

I know this is a 315 thread so I'll try and not go too far off topic - but why have the 317s been stored and not scrapped? The 315s went instantly after being pulled out of service.
Sort of theorised here https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/class-317-withdrawals.179712/page-40#post-5911732

As for 315s, I assume that there will be two scrap moves in the near future with one unit dropped off in Lydney, creating space for four other units to take residence at Aldersbrook.

The 315s got a reprieve by covering for nine car 345s, which themselves were covering seven car 345s going back to Derby. So it's not down to Alstom - they delivered the 345s as required.

I'd like to say the same... hoping that at least a single unit can be saved.
One has been. 856 is destined to be based at Llanelli and Myndd Mawr (Transport issues mentioned here notwithstanding!) After being donated by the Leasing Company.

Yes have been stored. Summarised in 317 thread. Angel trains owned. However Angel trains do tend to hold onto their stock in store a lot longer.
However with the 315s being Eversholt owned. Sadly like the 365. The same fate sadly is occurring with the 315.
Eversholt tend to scrap nowadays pretty quickly after the Last in passenger service duties. Meaning the 315s will sadly go to Newport asap.
Apart from the one going into preservation.

315837? I’d thought 856 would go by road…
Not by road from Ilford. 315856 is going to the Dean Forest Railway which is rail connected and then by road from Lydney to the railway at Llanelli (assuming money can be found for that move).

It's 90 miles by car, but Alleleys or whoever might have to take a different route.

Is that where (I think) 143622 is?
No 143622 is at the Llanelli Goods Shed.

315856 is meant to be going to the Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway at Cynheidre, joining 122019, 142006, 143606, 143607 and 143612, although the last of those is due to go elsewhere.

Given past events with this group, if I was the DFR I'd want to see their contract with the haulage company before letting the 315 onto their railway!

The alternative would be a contract for storage, but that doesn't help if the group hasn't the money to pay for it!

Due to the adverse weather according to the 315 society’s Facebook page - they claim they currently don’t have a revised date for its movement to the DFR.

There is some truth in this one.
Yesterday Sunday 11th December 2022.
The line between Shenfield and Colchester was severely damaged and disrupted due to the weather with a failed train requiring evacuation and rescue by the Rail Operations Group locomotive from Orient Way ie according to the Abeillo Anglia website.
Services this morning Monday 12th December didn't resume normally to around 10am. With all efforts being concentrated on this. Rail Operations Group crew. Obviously on full standby for anything this morning with Ilford E.M.U.D staff fully dedicated to unit weather safety checks probably to busy and not enough resource for today's move to occur. No harm in it going next week or in due course taking the unit for preservation onto Lydney. Then taking on further the scrap unit to Newport in one move.

Path in for Ilford to Newport 5Q76 on Monday
837 + 857 should be the pair headed for Newport. 853 will be the last one to go for scrap and that should be Booths bound on Tuesday
