Given past events with this group, if I was the DFR I'd want to see their contract with the haulage company before letting the 315 onto their railway!
Interestingly one of the senior members of the group commented on a public post on Facebook yesterday asking someone who works for a HGV firm if they move rail vehicles as they need a 4 coach EMU moving.
Unfortunetly each time I start to think they may actually achieve the goal they manage to knock my confidence.

Seriously... how have they not already got contacts (and indeed contracts in place) for this already?

There's Allelys of course, but they might not be cheap.

None of the hauliers will be cheap for four specialised loads. You'd like to think they would know about this, have a plan for it and the funding in place. Why, though, am I not confident that's the case?

There really is a need for the Class 315 group to be open and honest about what they need to get the unit to its new home and strike it lucky with a benefactor. I imagine they aren't paying for its transit to Lydney.

I would think they are paying for the move to Lydney. Eversholt have already donated them the unit - I doubt their generosity will extend to shifting it for them.

how many units will be retained by Eversholt for the time being? (i.e. not going directly to scrap)

None. 315856 is meant to be going to Lydney and then roaded further west. The other three go for scrap.

If we’re lucky, the Wikipedia hawks may allow the Class 315 page to say they’re not being used anymore by 2026. :D

837 + 857 will be off to Sims Metals Newport on Monday with 853 heading up to Booths Rotherham the following day
I remember it being 853 + 857 on the last day, so I'm guessing they've switched them up at Ilford to a different pair?

I'm guessing this would have complications which come with it, but if they didn't have sufficient funds to move the whole unit, would they be able to shorten the train to a 3 car, or would that just not work?

Also according to the class 315 preservation Facebook page last afternoon before the 315 scrap information came in. Was a possible move on Friday the 23rd December 2022. Of the unit for preservation to Lydney for Storage. Whether this is still achievable or not is another story?
Perhaps it is.

They were due to move on Monday, but the weather stopped them.
Yes that is correct. The weather did stop them. Aso Due to a failed log locomotive elsewhere for the move. And due to less demand for rhtt trains on geml. Plan was to use the rog locomotive from that hire in. However due to multiple train failures and power line issues Colchester to Shenfield as well as the Orient way standby needed due to this. The rhtt hire in rog locomotive was kept at Stowmarket on additional standby. For obvious reasons.
Also Ilford E.M.U.D staff was busy anyway bringing back failed units into service asap. However hopefully Monday's move does go ahead.
However could it possible Tuesday's move to Booths Rotherham as mentioned above maybe a one off ie so maybe parts can be sold to public maybe for charity even if they have to be collected somewhere from a collection point but still away from the yard there?
Maybe to raise funds for the 315 move by road from Lydney for preservation for the 315 preservation society?
