That equates to 2 repaints per month which sounds about right. Say one more may be in the new livery which nobody has reported on here and that makes 24 units.
On this basis, it'll be one more year before all units are repainted

The first couple were repainted in time for the start of the new franchise, but after that it wasn't until around late last summer that they started on the others and serial repainting began. At this rate they'll have them all done well before the end of the year. Since, to be pedantic, it's new vinyls rather than a repaint, I'm guessing the job will only take a few days for each train.

Clearly not a 185, but 350402 is visible inside Ardwick depot back to grey bodysides and full yellow cab ends, ready for new vinyls.

Interesting. The 350s were originally not planned for reliverying but then internally decided to do it. However no mention of 350 revinyling had been mentioned recently and the focus has been on the 185 refurbishment and tackling the high engine isolations

It's now the end of March. The first 185 with new interior was expected back in service in March. Any news people??? :)

Just curious...
Assuming no other time-consuming work is done, how long does it take to un-vinyl and re-vinyl a 3 car 185, from its arrival at the works in old livery to being released in the new?

A week and a half, usually....

Some units are having front end dents (from fatalities, etc) fixed at the same time

Unless half a set has been done, they cannot have done "exactly half"!!!!

Think you'll find none of them have been "repainted"....

Here and there beneath the graphics they have. Particularly the frontends where a load of filler has been applied to the dents caused by fatals etc

Just seen 350403 pull into Manchester Piccadilly in the new TPE Star livery. Of note, 350403 no longer has number on the cab roof front and they are now only on the cab sides on the purple bit at the bottom.

One thing that completely slipped my mind with the repaints is the fact that on some multiple-unit workings there are a mixture of repainted and non-repainted units working together!

Below is 185110 and 185144 on Sunday on 1U77 1840 Blackpool North to Manchester Airport on Sunday.

PS sorry it's sideways I can't rotate it.

I worked this pair into Liverpool on 1F90. This shot was taken following separating them for 1E78 and 1E92 back workings respectively

185122 about to enter the refurbishment program.

Will be in service in late MAY - lots of things being fitted (like automatic door isolation at short platforms) that will need testing hence the long lead time.

Eventual plan is that the 185's will take 10 days each for a full refit.

If only it were possible to fit "TARDIS" mods to boost capacity!

OT, but perhaps that's a nickname apt for the Class 700 and their "crush-load" capability.

Or maybe the new SWT rolling stock...
