Just cannot get into the new livery unfortunately, prefer the old one, much more destinctive. Also its hard to spot the numbers of the units when they wizz pass you too. Shades of Virgin practice?

A Youtube link to the same video

Looks like 185129 is the one shown. Interesting that the cab ends are also dark blue under the vinyls

A common feature with other Desiros - 444s & 3/450s seem to be done in much the same way. I think that I am right in saying that these trains have the cab as part of the main structure as opposed to something that bolts on separately, so it just all gets painted in the same base colour when it goes in to the paintshop

Could the internal work include softer seats, or are they required by safety law to remain that hard?

The seat frames remain but all will be re cushioned and reupholstered.

The base cushions are thicker I do know that after sitting on one of the trial seats.

I actually find the current seats comfortable despite being firm, as they have very good lateral support and the firmness helps you keep good posture throughout the trip. Poor posture is actually very conducive to discomfort over longer journeys, and seats that are too soft make it easy for you to assume it.

Agreed. The main problem with 185 seats is that it is very rare to find one that doesn't already have a pair of buttocks on it!

There is a separate 350 thread for anyone who wants to discuss the updates on 350 repaints etc. :)

All types of passengers need to be considered - tall, short, large, slim, those with poor posture, those with good posture, those with back problems, those with piles etc. What might be ideal for one passenger might be very uncomfortable for another.

Can we expect to see 'Welcome to the newly refurbished Pennine 185' on the seat covers again when the first one comes back from the refurb?

No. The standard class ones kept damaging the seat fabric causing all of the seats to be replaced.

It seems to be happening very quickly! How long does it take to re-vinyl each unit? Are they doing two at a time?
