Oh. I was hoping that the testing was a race round the staff car park.![]()
I shall suggest it in the next management meeting

Testing/certification.
The new trolleys are taller, lighter, slimmer. Designed to fit into the new module on the 185 that will be installed. They will also be compatible with the new train fleets when they arrive.
That's all I can say really.![]()
i think 101 will be out a little bit sooner than that, at what stage of refurb is anyones guess though.
143 should be next for the new livery from what i'm told.
185143 seen in the new livery today working the 1742 Manchester Picc to Hull.
Complete with Hull Capital of Culture 2017 vinyls
For the benifit of those posters easily confused could it be confirmed what the final internal refurb spec of the 185s is please i.e what changes are definatly being made?

And still the nouveau riche leather seat nonsense gets perpetuated. Who is to blame for starting it and when will it finish ?

Aware this isnt the time or place for a leather seat debate but I quite like them. Maybe I'll start a new thread on this one?
Photo dated yesterday showing 185148 still in old colours so has not been repainted as per the list http://www.flickr.com/photos/ispottrains/34814727144
So long as the purchasers of executive cars continue to demand leather seats I'm sure we will continue to see them in first class. It's a simple reaction to perceived demand. Also leather is much easier to keep clean than any piled fabric.
I have never understood that, when I'm looking to buy a car any with Leather seats are immediately discarded, as will TPE 1st Class
You may as well not bother with travel in 1st class on Hull Trains, GWR or VTEC then as well in that respect....
Biggest single improvement there. The existing voice is still in my view rude and clipped. There are so many nice, friendly Northern voices that I'm amazed they chose the one that seemed to belong to a hassled, annoyed guard. (I believe it was a member of staff rather than a professional voice artist).
I thought it was that Steph McGovern thats on BBC breakfast .
I thought all the voices used by the old franchise were staff who they considered to have friendly voices. I remember people being unhappy when Phil Sayer's voice was replaced by the voice of a TPE guard called Rob.
I love the idea that the female on-train voice could be in any way referred to as anything other than "rude, clipped and peremptory". The male one used on stations isn't much better.
They could have put some effort in and gone for a proper Yorkshire or Lancashire based voice artist with a genuinely warm, soft and welcoming voice. Or Phil Sayer, now sadly passed
At least it's not the dystopian future woman found all over the South East, I suppose. She always sounds a bit sad.

The problem we have is that people are uploading pictures on Flickr of units supposedly in the new livery but in these cases it hasn't actually been the correct unit. People uploading need to ensure that they are putting the correct information and not just guessing as I have updated the list to show both 185110 and 185148 as being in the livery when they aren't! Because I live in Cardiff I am miles away from the 185s area of operations and am relying solely on other people's observations and uploads on Flickr!
There was also a picture of 185107 in the new livery when it was actually 185117!
So I believe we are at this?:
185101, 185102, 185103, 185104, 185105, 185106, 185107, 185108, 185109, 185110, 185111, 185112, 185113, 185114, 185115, 185116, 185117, 185118, 185119, 185120, 185121, 185122, 185123, 185124, 185125, 185126, 185127, 185128, 185129, 185130, 185131, 185132, 185133, 185134, 185135, 185136, 185137, 185138, 185139, 185140, 185141, 185142, 185143, 185144, 185145, 185146, 185147, 185148, 185149, 185150, 185151.
185130 now done, saw today at Piccadilly.
