Units in black are untreated internally and still in Dynamic Lines. Units in bold are in the new livery but untreated internally. Units in red are currently undergoing internal refit. Units in indigo (none yet) are revinyled and refurbished inside.

185143 is still running around in the 'old' livery - saw it myself on Monday. Still looking fairly smart really.

This is part of the plan. It will have been stripped completely so that the engineers know how to put a 185 back together as it has never been done over here in the U.K. before and it will have had some hidden modifications done to it.

Currently working 1F90 but as 3 vice 6 and 30 late. Left 185 126 at Leeds as they wouldnt couple electrically to each other

It also allowed them to trial fit the new first class seats, which they found out didn't fit quite according to plan due to a different method of reclining compared to the current ones!

I can only speak for coach C (first class end), but '110 really did look in a tatty state last night. The toilet in coach B was out of use and the paint on the door for the disabled toilet was tatty and had peeled off in many places. The carpet as I say was filthy, beyond the point of just needing vaccing up.

Am I right in thinking that this one was the last of the 51 to enter passenger service?

The LM 350/1s are getting quite tatty when it comes to carpets and seat covers now, well overdue a light refurb (new carpets and seat covers should do the trick, couple of grand per unit should do it, plus railway price-inflation tax). But the internal panelling, doors etc look brand-new - the build quality of Siemens units is generally excellent. I wonder why the TPE ones differ.

I do wonder why with trains and buses it seems mostly to be a choice between carpet and hospital style vinyl. Wood-effect vinyl with insulation underneath looks good, is easy to clean and is modern - why has no TOC chosen that?

Totally agree, these units are intensively used and if you constantly have people standing in vestibules, the carpets wont survive long.

185123 seen in Leeds today has lost its poppy appeal livery from each cab end and is back in full new TPE livery, the unit still retains its number on the front as opposed to the side.

Complete list of modifications coming to the class 185 fleet....

New CCTV internally and forward facing
Upgrades to the PIS system (new screens at the end of each carriage will display real time running linked to the on board GPS)

The current PIS system and screens will remain - as it is an analogue system and as it is linked to various areas of the train with "addresses" it's not as simple as you think to rip it out and replace it. You would have to modify the pass com system and call for aid as well, and the crew communication system.

New seat covers (blue and grey in standard, cream leather in first)
All seat frames repainted

They really need to move 1st to another coach and make that coach Standard to avoid the isolated section and toilet. Ideally the end sections at the other end.
