A lot of the stuff in the 70s was flat cloth , not moquette and the covers came off so they could be dry cleaned , I remember taking orange seat covers of the ic70 mk 2f seats to the dry cleaning plant

When do we think this unit will be released to traffic? Will be good to see.

Has apparently been confirmed to be coming back in Blue/Grey with fully grey doors; to comply with DDA stuff.
It's said to be earmarked for the NRM after its finished on GTR. Could be to celebrate 40 years in service. Bit like the "Retro" HSTs

Would have thought it would make more sense to earmark one of the GTR units considering they're pretty much original inside and out. The SR ones were quite heavily modified.

Southern is part of GTR, I presume you mean Great Northern?

Which ones did you have in mind. The majority of great northern ones were reseated with high back seats by WAGN. A few ex-silver link ones retain the low back seats. Did southern reseat after they got them as well?

Don't have any in mind, just thought it made sense as they're considerably more original than the Southern ones. Southern fitted new seats, refurbished the cabs and removed the AC systems including the pantograph.

Ok. So it is just the ex-silverlink ones left with the low back seats. Can’t comment about work in cabs etc but the still switch at Drayton park most of the time.

I guess like others have said on the “triggers broom” but they are very different to how they were delivered. They had a wierd door opening mechanism (removed by BR) then privatisation gave what we have now.

Both the 507s and 508s were introduced with the same green and brown seat cloths seen on the Class 313s (as were the 315s) and these were replaced on the 507/8s with the green tartan in the early to mid 80s.

I understand the 314s were delivered form York with a different cloth pattern (blue I think) but there don't seem to be any pictures of the original 314 on the internet at present.

The Southern 313s I use - including refurbed examples - have really poor heating systems that appear to shut down, or be ineffectual, when the outside temperature drops close to freezing.

Was this a design issue, or is it a GTR maintenance issue?

From what I was told... It was an issue from removing the Asbestos i'm lead to believe.. they ended up blocking a load of heating vents... not on all but where your coach is freezing.

No asbestos insulation was used in new stock after 1967 ,derby built early Mk2 s had it but they would have been the last , the 313 body shell was sprayed with colset

It is possible that the underfloor ducting was accidentally covered over with floor insulation
