507s had a green tartan fabric.
So did the 508s.

A lot of the benches in the training school were covered in itSo did the 508s.
I hope the bit about the NRM is wrong. I'd like to see this unit preserved.
Would have thought it would make more sense to earmark one of the GTR units considering they're pretty much original inside and out. The SR ones were quite heavily modified.

Yes, meant to put GN.Southern is part of GTR, I presume you mean Great Northern?

Was talking about the earmarking, not the re-livery.And the 455s!
Oh and quoting @spookywestie s point, Great Northern (who I guess you mean) aren't the ones with twenty years to celebrate!![]()
Don't have any in mind, just thought it made sense as they're considerably more original than the Southern ones. Southern fitted new seats, refurbished the cabs and removed the AC systems including the pantograph.Which ones did you have in mind. The majority of great northern ones were reseated with high back seats by WAGN. A few ex-silver link ones retain the low back seats. Did southern reseat after they got them as well?

I have no idea?Is it not simply 'have the first', rather than wanting any particular condition?
Surplus green tartan on benches in training school
Both the 507s and 508s were introduced with the same green and brown seat cloths seen on the Class 313s (as were the 315s) and these were replaced on the 507/8s with the green tartan in the early to mid 80s.
I understand the 314s were delivered form York with a different cloth pattern (blue I think) but there don't seem to be any pictures of the original 314 on the internet at present.

From what I was told... It was an issue from removing the Asbestos i'm lead to believe.. they ended up blocking a load of heating vents... not on all but where your coach is freezing. The Southern 313s I use - including refurbed examples - have really poor heating systems that appear to shut down, or be ineffectual, when the outside temperature drops close to freezing.
Was this a design issue, or is it a GTR maintenance issue?
No asbestos insulation was used in new stock after 1967 ,derby built early Mk2 s had it but they would have been the last , the 313 body shell was sprayed with colsetFrom what I was told... It is possible that the underfloor ducting was accidentally covered over with floor insulationNo asbestos insulation was used in new stock after 1967 ,derby built early Mk2 s had it but they would have been the last , the 313 body shell was sprayed with colset

It’s fibreglass wrapped in thick silver foil , it’s only warm air ducting not flamesI imagine the thing would likely catch fire if that were the case!
