No asbestos insulation was used in new stock after 1967 ,derby built early Mk2 s had it but they would have been the last , the 313 body shell was sprayed with colset
Ah fair enough. Standard Mess Room rubbish then haha.

Quite like that, the doors don't look as out of place as I thought they might. I'd recommend they now paint the rest in the same livery.

It's interesting how tastes change. We all thought that livery was dead boring when it was current. Now we all think it's smart, worth perpetuating, etc. (see also 43002)!

Will they stick the BR branding? Like that we get to see a return of the BR grey livery although the fully white doors look weird.

I think the white doors look good. The thing that doesn't is the grey band being truncated compared with the original which reaches the cab door (almost).

Yep, the grey band ends in the correct place as far as the 313s go. The other PEP-derived classes all received a version of the livery where the grey extends much further towards the cab doors.

It does look fantastic and my only minor two gripes are the lack of BR double arrow on the cab doors and the much smaller unit numbers. Nevertheless, a fine effort and I look forward to seeing it in the New Year.

I might even look forward to getting a 313 now, or at least keep my eyes open for it on the west Coastway

I think "Coastway" applied in the British Rail font of the time under the rear windows of each carriage and a white Southern logo on the drivers sliding door would be a great addition - a nod to the past, which the whole livery with its grey doors, is.

overheard that the translators were broken, and the backup's were also broken. there was talk of a GN 313 being involved at willesden and dragging back to lovers, but was decided against as the AC circuits had not been tested since decommissioning, and although theoretically they should work it didn't want to be risked. however if the unit was not ready to go by the christmas shutdown it was staying there until next year.

Great to see another heritage livery on the network again. An excellent choice of livery and a very worthy recipient, in my opinion.

Network Rail's 313121 was used for the move

Goes onward from Acton lane to lovers walk later but some say 313121 being left behind
Is there third rail at Acton lane?

Here is my video of 313201 being dragged by 313121 near lovers walk.
Wasn't particularly good on either of the clips but hope to get better shots in daylight.

I think it looks Ok, but I prefer our railways to have that modern feel to them.

Is the interior the same?

I believe that the interior is still the same; though I'm not 100% on that one.

As a rule I prefer trains to have modern liveries; though I was quite disappointed when unit 4001 on the Tyne & Wear Metro lost the original Tyne & Wear PTE livery that it had carried since 1975. That livery suited it much better than the current one! I'm going off topic now though.

Would I be right in thinking that all the other Southern 313s will return in Southern livery?

I believe so yes
