Can anyone shed any light on Whittlesea station and the EMR morning service please?
I keep a daily check on the EMR app for any changes, cancellations etc. Quite often the 8:16am EMR train is cancelled, like today, due to a fault on the train. However, the cancellation only applies to...
Just found this year's Christmas special train on Real Time Trains is now available.

On the London Northwestern Class 350 (all subclasses) , can the destination displays show any/all of the stations served by London Northwestern or just certain ones used for terminating?
I've compiled a list below of destinations I've seen so far but are there any more to add? Thanks.
Crewe...
I've got a question in 2 parts...
Is there a difference between a guard and a conductor on trains? Also, why do some guards/conductors scan smartcards but others just look at the smartcard and assume it contains a valid ticket?
Just noticed the times and route listed for this year's Christmas special on Real Time Trains:

I've noticed at Crewe this week (early evenings) additional platform staff with SES Group hi-viz on.
Usually a few on platform 5 and a couple on platform 6. Are they security or additional Avanti staff? The Avanti platform staff are still there despatching trains but slightly less staff...
Looks like more train driver strikes are planned for February according to the BBC...
Quote from the BBC news webpage:
Wonder how long it will be before more strike action will be announced by other unions?

Looks like the Christmas special is operating this year. Real time trains link below...

Whilst travelling to Stafford the other week, it got me thinking about Norton Bridge station as was.
I know the station is officially closed and the replacement bus service has ended I think but what actually remains of the site currently? Is the inaccessible central island platform still...
At Stafford yesterday I saw an old abandoned royal mail platform across from platform 6. Looks abandoned apart from one or two remnants to it's past.
Does this platform still get any use with mail trains? I noticed at one end of the platform a lot of metal cages filled with royal mail sacks...
Looking on real time trains there seems to be some odd ecs movements around Kidsgrove recently.
The train below starts at Kidsgrove, goes to Crewe, reverses and goes back through Kidsgrove to Crewe. Why is this? Is this train the same one that starts at Ardwick TMD at 5:47am...
The past few Friday afternoons I've kept seeing one of the new West Midlands Trains class 196s at Crewe. Are these here for driver training and will they actually be used on routes serving Crewe? Not keen at all on the exterior colours but looks nice inside.
I check the EMR app daily for any delays or cancellations etc but sometimes see odd allocations.
For example yesterday I noticed quite a lot of the Derby to Crewe trains were 3 carriages but I noticed a couple of the other EMR routes had been shortened from 3 or 4 carriages to just 2 carriages...
I'm try to find photos online of the original BR interiors of class 158 and 153 carriages. Not having any luck though! Can anyone help with any links please? As I travel on both classes and after reading various threads on here, I'm curious to know what they were originally like inside. Thanks.
Have EMR got a lot of stock unavailable today - 23/11/19?
The 153 I was on from Derby this morning was full and standing for most of the route and checking the EMR app through out the day, there seemed a lot of short formed services on most routes.
Does anyone know what the reason(s) are for...
394L 1701 Crewe to Crewe T.M.D (E)
Saw the above tonight at Crewe just before 5pm but can anyone on here explain a bit more about the train please.
There were quite a few carriages (possibly 8 or 10) being pulled by 'Northern Princess' brown & cream loco. All the carriages were painted really...
