Summary below as per Find a Tender
Southeastern have also issued a press release focusing mostly on the upcoming TVMs which'll be the Worldline/Evoke model currently used by TPE and (at Luton DART stations only) GTR. Not often you see Scheidt & Bachmann TVMs being replaced by those of another...
The DfT issued a press release on plans to install another batch of ticket gates during 2027/28, including the new Cubic FEnX model (as seen on platform 3 at High Wycombe).

With Bedford hosting its biennial River Festival in several days' time, Marston Vale Line passengers will have a rare opportunity to use their local trains on a Sunday.

On the single track sections north of Littleport there's an ancillary wire affixed to the single track cantilever stanchions with what I assume are 25kV-resistant insulators. The line is set up for classic feeding (return conductor + booster transformers), so what is the purpose of said wire?
As per MikeWh's fare finder Epsom and Cuffley (both GTR stations) have been transferred from Zone 9 to Zone 10. This means the previous unadvertised validity of Z1-9 Travelcards at those stations no longer applies and their "outside fare zones" label on the TfL Rail & Tube Map is now consistent...
On BR Fares I've noticed various GTR single/return ticket types specific to ITSO fulfilment have been delisted for certain flows. Here's Luton Airport Parkway to London Thameslink, for example (with Network Railcard):
Previous fares period ending 28 Feb 26
Current fares period starting 1 Mar 26...
All references to contactless PAYG on the National Rail journey planner and information pages relate solely to the TfL-run London / South East scheme.
With TfW running their own scheme in South Wales since late 2024 and Merseyrail having launched theirs recently, is it now time for that to change?
What's the market share for train operators (inc. open access), Trainline, Uber and other third party retailers where web & app GB rail ticket sales are concerned?
Other than Trainline being dominant I can't find anything.
Now that the Mk3b wires are used by EMR 810s at 125mph I went to Leagrave to see if 802s do the same.
802301 passed through in diesel mode just before quarter-past eleven this morning so I'm curious as to when that'll change.
On those dates the BML is shut for engineering works between Three Bridges and Brighton, so services to/from Victoria are diverted via Littlehampton.
No easement is required for direct journeys, however the lack of one means that unless you split tickets most journey planners* will only...
Just a few days until the usual 4-week preview in journey planners, albeit one with a rare regulated fares freeze in England.
In London specifically the fares revision was signed off considerably later than usual.

Unfortunately for those travelling from London to Gatwick Airport / Three Bridges onwards via East Grinstead, the rail replacement buses were/are severely delayed all day today and likely tomorrow too owing to very heavy traffic to/from temporary South East Water bottled water stations in East...
As some of you know GTR - in contrast to various other TOCs - do not offer fulfilment to own-issue ITSO smartcards as a delivery option for web/app-bought single and return tickets, one day Travelcards included. I've seen it queried from time to time but I've yet to find the definitive reason...
Their existing supplier is withdrawing from the UK rail ticketing market, so Northern has issued a tender notice for a replacement.

Yes - after a long hiatus of 14/15 months publication of the T&R Updates has resumed. :D

At Chesham, does the ticket machine offer singles to Aylesbury with a Network Railcard discount? I may do that journey on 13 December (first Saturday after the paper fares are Ovalised).
I can get the ticket from another station (ToD / purchase) if need be, but I would like to get it at Chesham...
I understand that settlement of ticket revenue from ToD bookings generally doesn't take place before the collection, and that issuing a refund is easier for uncollected tickets.
If, however, the booking stays uncollected and no refund is issued or requested, who gets the revenue?
Just...
Until yesterday all the Ticket Vending Machines I've seen that can interact with smartcards have either an Oyster reader or an ITSO reader, not both.
Passed through Clapham Junction and spotted a bunch with both, though the ITSO readers were all inactive. Thoughts?
It piques my interest the BML between East Croydon/Purley & Gatwick Airport will be fully closed for two weekends - as opposed to one - in January 2026.
10-11 January 2026
17-18 January 2026
I'm aware an annual all-line possession is necessitated by Stoats Nest Jn parallel tamping, but what's...
keyGo (GTR PAYG scheme)
Tap2Go (SWR PAYG scheme)
I'm curious about how far the arrangements extend where certain intermediate stations are concerned. London Victoria & London Bridge aside, use of a TOC PAYG scheme at stations not served by the associated TOC isn't explicitly mentioned...
