Wymondham had a dreadful service until Anglia Railways Cambridge service commenced in 2002. For example there was a 4 hour gap in westbound services during the middle of the day on Saturdays. The long distance Central trains serving it also had poor reliability.

Just what I was thinking. Good to hear that Corby is doing so well regardless of the relentless groans of a few disgruntled commuters who not only dislike the 360s but were incensed that they still havent been refurbished & remain in 3+2 configuration.

I have never known staff enforce anything on staff regardless of the company they work for or whether on duty or not. It’s not the railway way.

I would imagine many purchase because they’re bored and want to pass the time. I don't notice many on longer distance trains who are overly bothered. One of my friends working the Norwich-London route today on a trolley took £385 on a return trip just supporting her colleague on the cafe bar.

I have noticed far better revenue protection on Voyager routes than Turbo for some reason in the last few years. On the Birmingham-Stansted route I have my pass/ticket ready as the conductor passes through but more often than not they do just that and don’t even seem to carry a ticket machine...

Would imagine a sizeable amount of Network Rail staff use the service to the Milton Keynes Quadrant offices.

Yes on differing grades should they want to. Also train managers getting paid to scan and commission up to 6%. All looks an excellent deal by the RMT.

I thought that is what this deal allows. Catering staff are being quite rightly paid HGD accordingly.

I used to watch this service along with the 07:00 from Liverpool (Runcorn only) back in VHF days. The Manchester occasionally managed to arrive as early as 08:55.

The 3h59 ‘Scottish Pullman’ sticks in my mind as having a 30% success rate at arriving on time.

What fantastic news. Can anyone else fathom out why XC senior management didn’t do this in the first place rather than tarnish their already dreadful attitude and image when it comes to industrial relations. It’s like they enjoyed pressing the self destruct button and alienating staff as well as...

I was going to try to fit it in with a short break in Whitby/Leeds next week but will try again in Blackpool/Berwick next month. I’m not counting my chickens for January just yet though.
