Delayed booked train (Advance) *could have* missed connection but allowed on earlier train, subsequently delayed on 2nd operator, delay repay?

I really don't understand why there's a tendency on this forum to overthink delay repay. In this case I would expect just submitting the TFW form would result in a complete refund.

Delayed booked train (Advance) *could have* missed connection but allowed on earlier train, subsequently delayed on 2nd operator, delay repay?

Nobody will be looking at platform numbers. All that's happening is the earliest time to your destination, honouring MCTs at any change, is being worked out and compared to the scheduled time. That's from computer data which has no knowledge of station layouts nor opinion on what a passenger...

Delay Repay after break of journey

It'd be the best part of £4, wouldn't it? Not a fortune, but I've certainly claimed for far less before now.

Thameslink: "formed of" Vs "which has"

What was wrong with "this train terminates here, all change please"?

Express coach proposed for north to south Wales link

Few people from Bangor go for a night out in Bangor, let alone from Aberystwyth! That'll be a non-existent market, sadly.

I had to crawl on my hands and knees to get off train, says disabled woman

I wonder if the railway is like this as a whole, or if the staff who post on forums are unrepresentative. Because I've never (in the civil service, local government and the private sector) felt the need to defend my employer or industry. All companies and organisations mess up.

I had to crawl on my hands and knees to get off train, says disabled woman

I'm surprised! I don't think that's all, but the point is why are you stating other scenarios? We're discussing this report, not another scenario.

I had to crawl on my hands and knees to get off train, says disabled woman

I think some people need to remember that this is a public forum, which ranks highly in Google's search indexing, and indeed this thread is already offered as one of the first results for search terms about this incident. Victim blaming is a terrible look, do you really want it to be what you're...

I had to crawl on my hands and knees to get off train, says disabled woman

8xx weren't designed for GWR, they were intended to be a universal inter-city unit to replace hauled trains everywhere. As far as I'm aware, GWR is the outlier in having numerous stations where the train stops beyond the platform, on the other inter-city routes stopping at the end of the...

I had to crawl on my hands and knees to get off train, says disabled woman

Nothing, as the external doors are at the same height throughout the train.

I had to crawl on my hands and knees to get off train, says disabled woman

But the lower floor is irrelevant when you need a ramp to get onto the train in any car. Putting them in the end cars was a silly decision.

Peak times at "the train manager's discretion" (!)

Depends on the start and end point of the ticket and what restriction it has. There are various for trains terminating at Euston, including as mentioned in some of the replies on X, one for which 11:30 is the cut off.

What I think is wrong with current OHLE electrification practice

I'd question whether it's truly colossal. If 70% of passenger mileage is already electric, then diesel on electrified routes is a fraction of 30%. I expect most stations which are on electrified routes rarely if ever see a diesel service.

Should trains have yellow rear ends to reduce collisions?

The TPE new units don't exist.

What I think is wrong with current OHLE electrification practice

France and Germany are probably comparable to us with mixed electric / diesel networks, are they electrifying large amounts of their diesel routes? (I have no idea!)

Month-long shutdown of North Wales Coast Line for engineering works

Indeed, they've handled it very poorly. They're not random strangers though. The person concerned about the time of a replacement bus is a daily commuter. It's been over 3 months with no information. I'd probably have been completely unaware this was coming up if I wasn't on this forum. Even...

    TfW PAYG - North Wales

Quite. And I don't think there's anything "selfish" about being irritated that the government run operator is massively reducing fares in some places, and leaving other places to endure fares which have long been disproportionately higher than in some of the places which are being reduced...

Economy Return Derby-Douglas - EMR can’t find fare

I'm sure that's pragmatic, but it feels wrong that retailers can choose to not sell particular tickets.

    Euston £50m upgrade

If Euston changed to encouraging waiting on the platform all that would happen on the forum is all the complaints about having to wait on the concourse would be replaced with Manchester Victoria / Birmingham style complaints about the platforms. It's not that bad a station, but any...
