Birmingham New Street the worst UK station?

I was wondering about this Teutonic numbering system, so had a bit of a search. Munich (looks to be 3 stations in 1): platforms 1-17 Hamburg: platforms 1-14 Mannheim: platforms 1-12 Hamburg and Mannheim are missing some numbers in the middle for unplatformed tracks. Imagine my disappointment...

Why people are so stuborn not using their ticket but rather showing to staff to open gates?

Thankfully the railway is solving this problem with optically scanned tickets which don't open the gates instead.

Why people are so stuborn not using their ticket but rather showing to staff to open gates?

Because people have experienced other ticket gates retaining their tickets.

Avanti advance fares showing up in forum and not own site

Hmm. National Rail Enquiries site doesn't go to 11 December yet, but searching for Carlisle to Tring on 4 December finds a cheap advance single fare for the 18:46, but when it redirects to the Avanti booking site it gives an error. How annoying!

Anytime Sheffield to Abergavenny via Manchester Airport

Appears so. Put the via points in on Trainsplit and it offers this ticket.

Avanti advance fares showing up in forum and not own site

I can't seem to find an 18:46 from Carlisle, there is an 18:51 though?

    Trainline selling misleading tickets

"Someone's talked about that in the past so let's not again" makes for an unusual sort of forum. This could move to the previous thread were it not for the forum's slightly schizophrenic approach of frowning on "off topic" discussion while simultaneously closing old threads where discussion...

    Trainline selling misleading tickets

Apps / websites which don't remember your preferences are annoying. All the ticket buying apps on my phone remember if you used a railcard last time, including Trainsplit. But hey, it's Trainline and they're evil or something.

Birmingham New Street the worst UK station?

That's going to be the same in any city you don't know, surely?

    Returning from Colwyn Bay

I would also recommend asking the guard. Many, but not all will be of course, TFW guards are pragmatic rather than jobsworths in my experience.

Clueless Rookie RPI Refuses to Identify Himself and Records me

How would he have known your exit station, given you had an Oyster card rather than a ticket with a specific station, and you "sat in silence" until you left?

Clueless Rookie RPI Refuses to Identify Himself and Records me

This feels very strange given that the vast majority of TFL passengers are using contactless or Oyster, with physical tickets a small minority. Oyster was introduced 23 years ago, so I can't help but suspect there is more to this than we're given.

Rail tickets in Apple Wallet with custom passes in iOS 27

Where it will look exactly the same as a ticket added from a PDF scan, or a screenshot.

What should the numbering layout of Edinburgh Waverley station be?

Hmm, East / West is silly because it's not used elsewhere (yes, it is silly), but Platform 406 isn't silly?

Rail tickets in Apple Wallet with custom passes in iOS 27

The first of those posts is a very old case where a retailer messed up, not a ticket checker. The second post is a forum member stating something which isn't (and has never been) true.

Rail tickets in Apple Wallet with custom passes in iOS 27

No, they won't quibble. Android has done this for a long time. If the code scans, nobody cares what the app or anything else around it looks like.

Birmingham New Street the worst UK station?

Regardless of how something is designed, if you've felt the need to name things blue/red/green/A-end/B-end, you've failed.

Birmingham New Street the worst UK station?

Thames Water is a private company, not a quango. I think most people would prefer it to be a quango, but it isn't.

ScotRail to introduce £10 minimum fare for those not buying before boarding

This is the new "GTR can't have brand specific fares," isn't it? I suspect it'll run a similar way too.

Birmingham New Street the worst UK station?

Five years out of date, but here's a list, "the top 73 highest earners at Network Rail earn a combined total of £15 million per year": https://www.tssa.org.uk/find-your-company/network-rail/news/nr-top-bosses-and-what-they-are-paid We're biased on here by our interest and like of the railway...
