    January 2026 BML all-line weekend closures (Croydon-Gatwick)

Some pretty significant delays on the Vic - Gtw services today. The 18:40 from Victoria arrived 75 minutes late at Gatwick, a 2 1/2 hour journey! At least they are still persevering with it.

    HST’s in Preservation

Cracking choices of livery there. Nice to see the early privatised liveries being represented (especially GNER!)

I‘m the opposite. Glad Senegal won. That referee shouldn’t be allowed near a major game again. I can see why Senegal were so upset (wasn’t ideal that emotions got the better of them though, but at least cool heads prevailed ) I’d guess it wasn’t the penalty that caused most of the anger (just...

    January 2026 BML all-line weekend closures (Croydon-Gatwick)

Fair enough. Assumed It was the fasts as Salfords and Earlswood stops are canned.

    January 2026 BML all-line weekend closures (Croydon-Gatwick)

Looks like the issue is somewhere between Gatwick & Redhill on the slow lines.

    What's your latest acquisition?

It’s a shame really. They got off to a good start with the GT3 and seemed to be turning a corner with the previous release to the 4DD, the Bo-Bo Hunslet. I also have the Leader, which is again a reasonable model as long as the wheels don’t fall off! (which fortunately, mine didn’t)

    What's your latest acquisition?

An arrival in early December was the KR Models 4DD. Having ordered and paid for it in early 2022, it was a long time coming. Detail is fairly basic, but I think it captures the look fairly well. It’s when it came to running it that problems became apparent. To put it simply, it was a derailing...

    Southern Region Designation- 4CIG

I wasn’t sure where to put it, but thought the Railway History & Nostalgia section was the best place. Thanks for your answers everyone, seems they are both correct!

    Southern Region Designation- 4CIG

Just a random musing I‘ve had for a number of years, and thought it was about time to ask! The vast majority of Southern Region electric stock had its designation based on the characteristics of the unit itself (EPB, VEP, HAP etc) One exception to this (excluding the pre-SR units) is the CIG...

    Hornby 2026

Nothing in there for me, but a reasonable set of releases. Interesting to see another new tool Railroad model in the form of the Class 60. Looks like that's the way Hornby may be going, seeing as the 'top end' level of models is very well catered for with all the new manufacturers of the last...

    12/01/2026 Fire near Redhill station

Quick Look at RTT shows numerous Thameslink services sitting outside the station. Only ones at platform are a Tonbridge terminator and a GWR Turbo (which arrived half hour ago and should’ve departed short after). If what you are saying is correct, my money will be on the GWR, but obv somethings...

Thanks for all that. Shame they’re not at heritage railways more regularly.

    LT 4TC set

Bit off topic, but what are the MLVs doing at Southall? According to Wiki, there are four of them there. I always assumed it was either wrong or they were just rotting there. On the contrary, these two look to be in very good condition. Are they usually used for anything there or are they just...

Flight Tracking Services - Interesting Observations

Seems an odd pattern for a go around though. Seen numerous go arounds of aircraft landing on 27R, and on the whole they continue to fly over the runway (at altitude obviously) before curving off to the right. Not seen one abruptly change course like that before.

    4DD under 1968, 1st edition, tops?

They could be part of the pattern, but I’d say it’s just a happy coincidence. If, for example, the class 404 didn’t exist (ie the CORs were retired before TOPS) and the SUBs were still numbered 405, then yes, I’d certainly say they were part of the pattern.

    4DD under 1968, 1st edition, tops?

However, the earlier SR units were not numbered in such a way and seemed to be just given sequential numbers (probably as they didn’t have long left). The BIL, HAL, BEL, COR & SUB don’t fit the sequence that was applied to the later BR stock. Speculating, I think it would‘ve been class 406.

Text book 6 pointer. At half time, West Ham were one point off safety. Full time, seven points!

    Thoughts on the Trump presidency

Quite like the rest of the world to grow a pair as well. Make a start by boycotting the World Cup. Especially as FIFA decided to give him a peace prize.
