    Reform UK discussion

Disagree. A lot of Muslims officially have their first name as Mohammed, but are called by another (usually their middle name). I work with a fair number of people called‘Mohammed’, but not one of them are actually referred to as such. Also, we don’t call Boris Johnson ‘Alexander’, so it...

    18/6/2026 by-elections - including Makerfield

It was in their 2019 election manifesto which was overwhelmingly rejected. Yes, their were rumblings during those 5 years in opposition they would do something, but it wasn’t in their 2024 manifesto.

Trivia: Defunct TOC names still used by passengers / media

FCC had an all electric fleet (except for an 03 shunter) Could this be a result of a ‘box swap’ relating to the PIS from one of FCCs old units?

Introduction of European Entry-Exit Scheme (EES)

I was in Tenerife last weekend. EES was in use, but there were lots of machines and no queues. Only one of us (out of 8) had issues registering, even so we were all through in less than 15 minutes. On departure, there was again no queue and we were all through very quickly. There was a bit of...

"Gosh Ness Monster" Hastings DEMU Tour to Scotland

Seen photos that it is carrying a tail lamp. Are double red blanks not acceptable away from the Southern region?

"Gosh Ness Monster" Hastings DEMU Tour to Scotland

The BLS site said it should be 9 coaches (6+3). Were bookings not sufficient or was it decided the Power-to-Weight ratio needed improvement?

    Red arrows Hawk T1 replacement

The Red Arrows are the ‘face’ of the RAF, and are a significant recruitment tool. This engagement with the public shouldn’t be underestimated. In my opinion, the memorial flight will be disbanded before the Reds. (With the aircraft transferring to a civilian organisation like the Navy Historic...

    Football

This season so far! (Not that I'm expecting West Ham to put up a massive fight this weekend, we seem to be running out of steam)

    Reform UK discussion

Indeed. Not quite on the same scale, but look at how well UKIP did in the local elections in 2013/14 compared to the GE in 2015. Can’t see Reform disappearing in the same way, but I think they will get a reasonable proportion of the vote in 2029, but it won’t translate into seats

    Older cars you have seen

Saw a Delorean this afternoon. No, it wasn’t going 88 mph (but too much of a surprise for me to grab a photo). However, it was a stock one, not decked out in Back to the Future guise.

    2026 Local Elections Thread

Labour didn’t even have any candidates on the ballot for my area of the new East Surrey Council. Don’t recall ever having them missing completely. Was probably a good thing, as we ended up with 1 x Reform & 1 x Lib Dem. The other Reform candidate wasn’t far behind, so I’d expect as least some of...

    The 'Rip Off Britain' discussion

My local here in South Surrey, I can nearly get three pints for a tenner! Almost 4 if I go to the Wetherspoons. (And almost 5 if I decide to be really dirty and have a Bud Light!)

    Sir David Attenborough turns 100!

If it is on the cards for him to be offered one, I’d fully expect that he’s already been asked and the answer is known. Would be the first for a non-royal since Churchill. He’s looking very well for someone who is 100 though! It will be a very sad day when he does pass on. Michael Palin is...

Which London Underground route has the most stations in daylight?

Heathrow T4 > Heathrow T2/3 surely can’t be that far. Where does it go?

    2026 Models

3 have sold on eBay since the start of the year, for £182, £274 & £350. Obviously, the higher priced ones shouldn’t happen anymore, however I’d still expect them to sell for a decent price, seeing as the new version is £300. The new release may well reignite interest in them, with the older...

Yes, a J reg if I remember correctly, so quite a late one.

    Older cars you have seen

Visited the Firebird Brewery in West Sussex (well worth a visit) and next door is Vantage Engineering. Fair few quids worth of cars sitting outside! Didn't photograph, but was also a mint Mk.1 Micra as well.

    2026 Models

Seeing as the 2 car is £350 and 3 car is £470, I’d wager on £590 for a 4 car set! These are the DCC Ready RRP. Seeing as a DCC ready Accurascale Electrostar is £500, they do seem a tad pricey. Will probably be £500 for a 4 car set with retailers discount though
