Your quickest exit from a pub?

Also on the 'real' ale front, walked into a pub and asked what ales they had on. Barman, very enthusiastically, replied that they had John Smiths! Asked if they had any others, and he couldn't comprehend what was wrong with John Smiths. So it was an about turn, and found somewhere else! This...

Real Ales (including mass produced ones)

Of the 6 the OP mentioned, only one I will go for is Otter, mainly as I don't see it very often. Doom Bar would be a last resort if I'd already started on ales and everything else had gone off. Butty Bach from the Wye Valley brewery will be one of my favourites, goes down very nicely. As for the...

Trivia: largest station (by platform count) with no bay platforms.

Does Vauxhall have 8, or are some disused?

Aeroflot Flight SU1492 makes emergency landing at Sheremetyevo Airport

Does the superjet have a fuel dump capability? A lot of smaller types don't as there max landing weight isn't too far off the MTOW

Aeroflot Flight SU1492 makes emergency landing at Sheremetyevo Airport

Bit off-topic, but there is nothing wrong with operating an aircraft with the thrust reverser inop. All aircraft have what is called a Minimum Equipment List (MEL) which lists all sorts of systems that can be inoperative, sometimes with certain operational constraints, and how long it can be...

Hidden Gems (stations , viaducts etc)

There is another nice viaduct on the same line a few miles north just before the connection to the WCML. I agree, it must of been a pretty line to travel on

    RAF Tornado Retirement

Posted on Fighter Control that the last day of flying will likely be 16th March. I've read that there will be a 9 ship tour of the country as a farewell, but I can't seem to find where I saw that. Currently only 16 left in service.

    London to Brighton fast runs.

Something against a faster time though would be Gatwick, as (I think) they can no longer go flat out since platform 7 was put in (going southbound anyway)

Best place for a pint within view of a railway station/line?

The Station Inn at Ribblehead. Looks straight out over the Viaduct. May have to sink a few to see any significant action on the line though!
