Writing to GTR proactively for fare evasion

Welcome to the forum! I don't normally recommend contacting a train company ahead of them sending an initial letter to you. When you moive away you should make arrangements for your post to be forwarded to you, or alternatively update GTR with an address at which you can be reached. The...

WMT Travel Fraud Investigation - Advice Needed

Just to sum up where I think things are with this: You were stopped and issued with a Penalty Fare for travelling with an invalid ticket. You paid the Penalty Fare which means WMT cannot take any further action in respect of the incident where you were stopped. You have short fared on...

Fraud by misrepresentation due to no railcard

What you've written looks ok to me. Couple of things: - It needs to come from your son (nothing wrong with you writing it for him but he needs to sign it - WMT will probably search his online ticket purchasing account and if this shows purchase of other railcard discounted tickets they will...

No letter has arrived. It's been over 6 months.

Having re-read the thread, I agree. As long as the correct contact details were given it seems highly unlikely that more than one letter would have gone astray, so it seems as thouygh Chiltern cannot proceed with this case.

Misuse of rail card - WMT

I agree with @John R Purchasing tickets is not illegal but using them in an invalid ticket is illegal. To secure a conviction in court WMT would have to prove that you used the tickets and it is highly unlikely they can do that, unless you confess. The easiest way for them to prove this is...

Not sure what to say in this email and what I should do please help me!

If WMT search your ticket purchasing history will it show frequent purchases of short distance tickets? If so, they will want to factor the cost of these journeys into the settlement cost.

    WMT Travel Irregularity - Advice

Welcome to the forum! WMT have caught you red handed are entitled to prosecute you int he Magistrates Court if they want to. Normally they will offer an out of court settlement to people who co-operate with their investigation and who haven't come to their attention before. They will normally...

Travel Fraud Investigation West Midlands Trains

Please start your own thread if you are in need of help and we will be happy to assist. This is to avoid confusion as no two cases are ever quite the same, however similar they might appear to be at first. This thread is to discuss @JonseyST case

Need Advice on Fare Dispute Chiltern Railways

I expect it'll be a letter. Given that we've had Easter and the recent Bank Holidays, and I believe Chiltern has a backlog at the moment, I'd leave it a little longer before chasing.

    WMR Fare Evasion

    I agree with @Haywain

No letter has arrived. It's been over 6 months.

It normally takes longer than two weeks for a letter to arrive. More likely to be a couple of months.

    Where are they travelling to?

Isle of Man SailRail Railcard Validity

Given that these tickets get a discount on 16-25 Railcards and Two-Together Railcards I'd say the omission of discount for the 26-30 Railcard is an oversight. The problem is getting the query to someone in the train company who actually understands the problem and is in a position to fix it. I...

No show - no pay (refunding an unscanned e-ticket)

Passenger numbers aren't based on ticket scans but on ticket sales. Your journey would be recorded by the fact that you purchased a ticket. There can be many reasons for a ticket check not being done on board a train (many passengers travel on trains that are driver only operated). Whether a...

    Witness statement

Given that you can't really upload the railcard (well not a valid one as you didn't have one) I'd upload the leter instead.

    Witness statement

As I understand it, @abigail_hhh has been given a link to upload their railcard (@abigail_hhh can you confirm this) While no railcard was held I have seen cases resolved faster if you just simply upload a letter telling them that rather than doing nothing, and waiting for GTR to write.

Urgent Help Needed – Railcard Date Tampering Incident

You've not been sent a SJPN so answer 'no' to that. (SJPN are court papers) Your suggested subject is ok, alternatively just put your case reference number.

    Witness statement

You could upload the railcard but they will know it wasn't valid when you made the journey. In addition to the points I listed above you could also say that since the incident you've purchased a railcard. If you pop a draft in this thread we can assist with getting the wording right.

    Witness statement

As you've been asked to upload a railcard that you can't produce then I would be proactive and upload the letter instead. In most cases I advise waiting for the train company to write first, but this is one occasion where it might speed things up if you're propactive. Whether you upload...

    Witness statement

Welcome to the forum! We need to know which train company stopped you. Based on your location I'm assuming it's GTR (Thameslink). Buying a railcard is a good thing to do for future journeys but it won't make this matter go away because they can see what tie the railcard was purchased and will...
