    Notice of Intention to Prosecute

GTR know that the post isn't 100% reliable at the moment, plus we've also had a Bank Holiday. I highly doubt it will adversely impact the chances of a favourable outcome.

Short fare and fare evasion on Chiltern

Some good advice has been given by forum members. The key to obtaining an out of court settlement is to co-operate with Chiltern, I've seen prosecutions over 10p before but out of court settlements as high as £25k! It'll probably take several weeks for Chiltern to write to you. When their...

A new way for fares regulation in a nationalised railway?

I think national mileage based caps would be a problem. You’d have to set them at the rate of the highest fare which would allow massive increases on cheaper routes.

    Trainline, Railcards, and 'Prosecutions'

We seem to have the debate about whether railcard expiry dates should be entered when buying tickets every few weeks…. I purchased some very cheap Advance fares three months ahead of travel discounted with a Two Together Railcard which at the time I purchased the tickets I did not possess. I...

Urgent Help Needed – Railcard Date Tampering Incident

Either will do but personally I prefer the first version ;)

Milton Keynes to Chesham (end of the line) via Watford

Oyster cards and the credit held on them does not expire.

    Notice of intent prosecution

Not at all. You need to do this if you forgot to attach your letter.

    Invalid ticket (Railcard fraud)

I've seen prosecutions over 10p and out of court settlements for £25k. What normally matters isn't the value involved but how you co-operate with the train company.

Urgent Help Needed – Railcard Date Tampering Incident

It's not your decision on how to resolve it. I would change this to say 'I wondered if it would be possible to resolve this without the need for court proceedings.'

Who do i claim delay repay from

That's very poor and really should be reported.

Commute to Bond Street and best reasonably priced safeish places to live?

Does it have to be in London? Might be worth considering places like Watford, Stevenage, Hatfield etc. More expensive train fares but cheaper living costs and fast, frequent trains to London.

Milton Keynes to Chesham (end of the line) via Watford

An Oyster card costs £7 and then you have to add PAYG credit to it. If you want to do this just buy one at Watford Met Underground station and get teh staff there to add the railcard discount. I think they'll get you to set up a password for the card on the POM (ticket machine) when you do it.

A new way for fares regulation in a nationalised railway?

Are you proposing a national cap or a cap by route? Take London to Manchester where the Anytime Single is £193, I really don't see how that is going to be an effective cap to 'off-peak' fares.

No show - no pay (refunding an unscanned e-ticket)

I’ve seen all sorts of shenanigans over the years involving paper tickets to try and obtain a refund (I won’t list them here as I don’t want to encourage illegal behaviour). There are also ways you could act illegally with barcoded tickets to try and obtain a refund. Train companies are...

    Railcard boundaries in silly places

I don’t think that would be politically acceptable, especially for a nationalised organisation.

Cheapest ticket for Reading to Oxford commute?

Frankly, if you already have a photocard just buy the ticket from a station ticket office or ticket machine.

    Advice Southern Rail expired railcard

Yes, they'll send another letter. It's important that you get that letter so I would give the new address and the date it's effective from in your reply.

    Advice Southern Rail expired railcard

There's no need to write on that sheet pf paper. I'd write a letter on your computer and print it out but do make sure it has your name, address and case reference number on it so they can match it up with your case. The letter needs to be from you, so you need to sign it not your friend. You...
