Both the services only have about a 20 minute turnaround at Liverpool, so if there was any improvement to be made, it would be if that turnaround could be extended to 50 minutes to deal with the delays these services (especially the Norwich) have.

I'm interested in knowing the answer too, but I think part of it may be that the long term plan was for TfW's only 153s to be these active travel sets so there wouldn't be any spare solo 153s to join with.

In that case, the £174 was for a window seat in the solo part of a 1+2, so it's both a window seat and an isle seat. The only way to guarantee a window is to buy a seat at a table for 2 (or if you have a group of 4 and 2 are happy to have isle seats that works too)
