I had to crawl on my hands and knees to get off train, says disabled woman

The vast majority of services between Paddington and Bath Spa are formed of 9 carriage trains, so single units, but still too long for Bath's Bristol-bound platform.

    Notepad people

I put my seen/ridden down in a spreadsheet rather than a book. I'm not one to stand at the end of a platform for hours, but while waiting for my train I'll absolutely be out there. Do people who use pre-made list books buy the new versions in order to include new classes? For me it's just a...

    RealTimeTrains website

Well they are a company that operates trains, just freight trains instead of passenger ones, so I don't really see what's wrong with referring to them as a Train Operating Company when that is quite literally what they do.

Should Mandatory Seat Reservations Be Removed For Advance Tickets?

Yes that is very true. I made a connection I hadn't planned earlier today so I am sat in Coach C on an Avanti leaving my reservation on the TPE 40 minutes behind unoccupied. If I was on advance tickets I obviously wouldn't be on this Avanti. I'm not really sure that many people would do that...

Report of collision Bedford (Elstow) - 19/06/26

There are clearly enough car drivers that do read through that there are covers over those lights such that they can only be seen from certain areas.

Is this typical behaviour of Northern with delay repay claims?

Likewise I had the same at about the same time Appealed so we'll see.

Should Mandatory Seat Reservations Be Removed For Advance Tickets?

Ah yes that is a very good counterpoint.

Should Mandatory Seat Reservations Be Removed For Advance Tickets?

I wouldn't disapprove of an option for a counted place reservation on advance tickets. Or maybe just only issue counted places for certain short distance flows to avoid taking up long distance seats (e.g. should people be reserving Warrington-Wigan (10 minutes) when that booking might block that...

Should Mandatory Seat Reservations Be Removed For Advance Tickets?

I don't support compulsory reservations at all, except where they are actually compulsory, which is more likely the problem. Since lockdown several TOCs (mostly high speed Intercity ones) have been falsely flagging all of their trains as Compulsory Reservations, when they are not. One example of...

Integrated "One West Coast" business unit - what changes may take place?

Generally the ex-West Midlands Avanti uses 12 while the LNWR is turning around in 11. I think it works well, since I usually see bigger crowds for the LNWR than the Avanti gets.

Integrated "One West Coast" business unit - what changes may take place?

Running an 807 on the Trent Valley stopper would be a problem due to capacity The service can struggle with 10 cars (2x 730/2), which I experienced firsthand on several Summer Saturdays (it even got busy at the back!) I don't think an 807 would fit everyone, especially with the added Liverpool...

Saw 4Q43 today, but unfortunately my phone camera lost focus as it passed, this is all I got.

EMR Sprinter only using one door?

Class 185s have carriaged based selective door operation, so at stations like Meadowhall 4 of 6 can open. SWR have refit their Desiros with full SDO, and LNWR are in the process of upgrading theirs. The 350/2s will also need to be upgraded to it if they are to run as 8 car trains on any services.

    Southern - AirCon turned off?

It is also much hotter inside on those trains compared to ones with Aircon working On 323s during the last heatwave I was mostly thinking about how it'll be nice once they are replaced by 350/2s which have Aircon while suffering in the heat not helped by windows with how hot the air was, windows...

Northern restructuring discussions/TPE strikes effect this Sunday

I think using the train for at least Oxenholme (or maybe Lancaster) -Wigan will be part of the best route (especially with how slow going via Liverpool is, the bus from Wigan is faster).

Northern restructuring discussions/TPE strikes effect this Sunday

There's also the bus from Wigan to Ormskirk (375, roughly hourly until 22:30 on a Sunday) but it does take nearly an hour. It will probably depend mostly on what Northern run as to what the best route is for you.

Last train Stockport - Euston completely full on Saturday 26/09/2026

I wasn't aware that was a thing, I know the tilting won't work (and thus the train limited to the normal speed limits) if the carriage is too heavy, but never heard it said like that, unless it was said like that just to get people to move.

Delay Repay after break of journey

Just submit the Manchester Victoria - Todmorden leg, since that is the journey you are claiming for.

Yep, that's always how it is. The yellow hatching helped a bit, it was worse before
