Could the undamaged 158 vehicles from Talerddig be reformed?

Could is very far from will. Physically could it be done? Yes, will it? No clue, people have raised on here before the issues of having different types of engines between the Welsh and Northern units.

Whittlesea station and East Midlands Railway stopping cancellations

The stop was 0 minutes, so there won't have been any actual time to stop, board, and depart. Timings at Whittlesea are entered manually (presumably by the signaller) and there is some slight variance with how they report non-stopping services, sometimes it shows simultaneous arrival and...

Potential uses for GA Aventra 720s

Looks like it forms from the previous evening's London - Harwich boat train, half forms the 1A19 0703 Harwich Town to London Liverpool Street, which picks up an extra 5 at Colchester (then being the 08:15 from Chelmsford), as the other half runs empty to Witham and forms 1F21 0814 Witham to...

Delay - no repay or not to repay? Is that the question?

I certainly wouldn't, free money! Keep the money and next time you're travelling by train treat the money you got as a discount.

730/2 Overhead luggage racks not for luggage

That specific spot you shouldn't put luggage on because of the beam connecting the two units, luggage either side of that is fine, it's just if you put anything on that beam it'll slide off.

Lewes derailment - Thursday 13th August

Out the front or back would probably be my first thought, if your carriage is separated a gangway corridor would be open. or yes climbing out the top is an option (you could use the emergency door open rather than breaking a window), but obviously climbing requires strength plenty would not have.

Severe Alert from the UK Government

The most surprising thing is that their controband phones weren't isolated from every possible outside source of making them loud. It's literally just a single setting they didn't do.

First train of 3 cancelled, and advance ticket for each

If it doesn't impact your other options, it's worth a try to ask. The person you'll want to ask is the guard/train manager (the title is irrelevant, the role is the same) as they are the one with the authority to let you travel on their train.

    Filling in missing classes

The Northern Ellesmere Port service does not go via Runcorn, it goes via Earlestown (platform 3) There are empty services that go via Runcorn, but none in passenger service. And no clue why it goes slightly down the freight only line at Runcorn

To reserve or not to reserve? (seats)

Yes, all the time. TPE's seat reservation tool will give me a bad seat, or even just a decent seat but otherwise worse than the alternative and I'll sit somewhere else. A couple weeks ago I had a booked seat of B1 on a TPE from Glasgow, upon approaching the train I saw coach b was very busy...

In the Turbostar section under Northern you have: Being based near Hull, these also have a few moves that go between York and Hull, such as Saturday's 2R31 2045 York to Hull. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:P24506/2026-08-15/detailed Obviously some changes will need to be made...

Porterbrook Cl.769 'Flex' trains from 319s, initially for Northern

Don't think so, at least not with some modifications to the line - I think the last time they tried to take a 195 to Southport it got stuck there for a week, not sure what arrangements were done to get it back.

Is 5mph the slowest speed limit possible?

The rest of HS1 is km/h, as is the Cambrian line. Not sure about the Northern City line.

    DB Cargo UK being sold

What's the breakdown on cargo types for DB? I know they do the Knowsley - Tees dock waste train, and some cargo but I'm not too sure beyond that. There's the yard at Warrington but I feel like I don't see many of those wagons move (and I'm not certain what they are for anyway, coal/aggregate?)
