This week's "Paddington 24/7" on Channel 5: an observation

It was proved he had all the valid tickets for the journeys he made. It's his business why he did those journeys.

This week's "Paddington 24/7" on Channel 5: an observation

Why sue GWR? If I was that man.... "Your guard reported me to the police, who detained me, questioned me, and insinuated I had escaped from a mental hospital. Yet it was proved that I had done nothing wrong and I had all my valid tickets for the journeys I made. Plus I find it extremely...

This week's "Paddington 24/7" on Channel 5: an observation

I suppose you can look at it from the other angle and, yes, they were trying to show they care. At least the bloke didn't seem to mind. I suppose I'm putting myself in his shoes. I mean, they were basically saying because he was perceived as being a bit odd, they think he's escaped from a...

This week's "Paddington 24/7" on Channel 5: an observation

This irritated me somewhat. They showed a middle-aged bloke arriving at Paddington. He had been reported to the BTP by the guard on the GWR train for appearing "lost". So, the BTP questioned him. To be fair, they spoke to him in a kind manner. Then they phoned up some hospitals and care homes...

Do all trains call at Haymarket?

It seems to me that every train I've been on to/from Edinburgh Waverley always stops at Haymarket, if it passes through it. Is this always the case?

Advance Purchase to Edinburgh but get off at Haymarket

Will my ticket go through the barriers at Haymarket? If not, do you think the staff would be used to seeing this sort of thing, and be o.k. with it?

Advance Purchase to Edinburgh but get off at Haymarket

I'm planning to buy an advance purchase ticket from Lancaster to Edinburgh for mid-November. At this point in time, I'm not sure if I'd rather get off at Haymarket or Edinburgh Waverley. The ticket I'm buying will be "to Edinburgh" and as it's an advance purchase ticket, I know I'm not allowed...

Worcester to Barnt Green via Kidderminster

I was playing around on Nationalrail.co.uk and I found what appears to be a strange anomaly. If a day return from Worcester to Barnt Green via Kidderminster is typed in, the price comes up as £7.30. So, this is travelling from Worcester to Birmingham Snow Hill/ Moor Street (via...

Liverpool to Blackpool via Southport / "Blackpool stations"

I want to travel from Liverpool to Blackpool, returning the following day. I know the usual route from Liverpool would take me via St Helens and Wigan, and then change at Preston. Firstly, I'd like to know, for the same price, could I go via Southport? So, it would be Liverpool Central to...

Cheapest way to visit Carpender's Park and also South Ockendon in one day from London

I've only ever bought the zones 1-6 Travelcard before. Is it just as easy to buy the zones 1-9 one? Will any station outside London sell it? I usually buy my one-day Travelcard at either Worcester Shrub Hill or Birmingham New Street stations early in the day, to avoid having to queue at...

Cheapest way to visit Carpender's Park and also South Ockendon in one day from London

It might be quicker for me to get the LM service from Euston to Bushey, and then bike the 2 miles to Carpender's Park. It seems that the fast LM trains to Bushey take about 17 minutes but the trains to Carpender's Park stop at every station and take more than double the time to get there.

Thanks, that's great news. That's what I wanted to hear. So I lock my bike up in Upminster and then I get the bus. Please could you tell me, when I return back from South Ockendon to Upminster on the bus will they be o.k. accepting my Travelcard at South Ockendon, despite it being in...

Cheapest way to visit Carpender's Park and also South Ockendon in one day from London

Thank you. I notice it's the same distance from either Upminster or Rainham to South Ockendon. I was thinking of going from Upminster as well, there seems to be about twice as many trains that go there from Fenchurch Street than go to Rainham. Is the cycle route from Rainham to South...

Cheapest way to visit Carpender's Park and also South Ockendon in one day from London

I have a train ticket that gets me into Euston at 10.30am. I want to do the following: From Euston, I'll get the train to Carpender's Park and stay there for maybe an hour. Then I'll come back into central London. In the afternoon, I want to go from Fenchurch Street and visit South...
