So many people overlook the South Coast - it is stunning down there. TBH the best thing to do on any of the NSW coastal strips is get to the slightly out of the way places. Not all of them are on a train line but it is manageable.

I did read somewhere once that it's possible to see the Pepsi Max Big One at Blackpool from the top of one of the hills between Hebden Bridge and Colne. Seems far-fetched and I'm prepared to be wrong, although I hope I'm not.

Halifax now is a lot better than at its worst in the 1980s. It was down to one train an hour in each direction. Returning platform 3 to use would be an enormous improvement.

Halifax should get a mention. Formerly three island platforms with two bays, huge goods yard and a northern junction for the Queensbury line. Now one island, with another disused one begging for its track back.
