EDIT: I've changed the title to Sydney Trains discussion as tbh I have a number of questions and see no point in creating hundreds of threads

Hi

Does anyone have a list, or a link to a list, of the configurations of Australian V Sets please? Only there’s about six different carriage types from different years which are all rather different despite looking similar on first glance, and I’d be fascinated to know which sets are compiled of which carriages, for example

V1: DKT 1039 DKG 1239 DKS 1248 DKT 1293 (example only)

Sites Pretty much upto date from Personal observations just missing the 4 trains in Mardi Gras Livery B13/39 and the Two Tangara's Both Tanagras where at Cronulla at 10pm last night.

Got a Tangara on T2 and T8 today which is usually rare, I think they have one permanent weekend diagram now

Yesterday a pair of Vs were on Newcastle which is also not planned for Sundays, but I think this was due to additional trains required as some were diverting via Olympic Park

I’m just glad you got here before the V sets leave us. They remain a thing of joy, I even like the smell, and the bush plum interior is a winner.

Does anyone know what Sydney Trains sector the H Set OSCARS will work when the D Sets displace them off NSW Trainlink IC work please?

They currently do peak Hornsby - Blacktown via Gordon on Sector 1 to interwork with the limited Wyong via Gordon services, and the Kiama route runs alongside Sector 3 services.

Sector 1: T1/T9 Hornsby/Emu Plains/Penrith/Berowra/Richmond/Gordon routes (Currently A Sets/T Sets/limited B Sets)

Sector 2: T2/T3/T8 Leppington/Parramatta stopper/Liverpool via Bankstown (will become via Lidcombe in 2024)/Macarthur and Revesby (Primarily B Sets atm, with A, H and K Sets thrown in)

Sector 3: T4 Bondi - Cronulla/Waterfall via Hurstville (Exclusively T Sets… some late night IC services run all stations along the route, these are OSCARS)

Also, the OSCARS are supposed to replace the K Sets, but there are a good deal more OSCARS than K Sets, and the Ks only come out at weekday peaks anyway (and even then, far from all of them work)… plus when the Bankstown line goes to Metro more Waratahs will be freed. Surely they’ll have a surplus of stock? I reckon they could get rid of the ageing ex G Set Tangaras as WELL as the K Sets, by replacing the of Tangaras used on Sector 1 with Oscars, and it would mean the T Sets would be exclusively used on T4.

Does anyone know the actual scheduled last day of operation for the Bankstown line as a heavy rail route?

Personally I find it irritating that Tangaras continue to work T1/T9 with the Waratahs on weekends while the far newer Millenniums remain tucked away in the sheds. I hope the Oscars will be used all week round.

Usually, for older set-types usage equates to 80-85%, for more modern sets usage can be up to 95%.
