Have many stations experienced an entire renumbering of their platforms at some point? When I was still at school, Helensburgh Central had four platforms. Some years later, the rarely used Platform 1 was abolished and the original Platforms 2, 3 and 4 were renumbered 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
