At approximately 0130 this morning the last Chesham train was travelling between Chorleywood and Chalfont & Latimer when a passenger who was smoking between the carriages on the train slipped and fell onto the tracks while the train was moving at 50mph. He was subsequently dragged to Chalfont &...
I'm going on a 7 day ALR, starting on the 23:50 sleeper to Glasgow.
I'll post some updates here at some point, with photos when I get back, but until then, those who are interested can follow me on Twitter.

Thanks guys!
I'm doing an ALR starting next Saturday morning, I was wondering which rural lines are worth going to see/travel on.
Basically if people can suggest lines which I must travel on because of how awesome they are, I will be very grateful.
Thanks!
An announcement on District Dave's forum which any London Underground fans will be aware of, states that District Dave has died peacefully at his home after a long illness.
It's sad to see such a great asset to the online railway community go like this.
RIP Dave.
I'm planning an ALR in June, but I'm not doing what most do on here, (racking up mileage) I am hosting some meetups all around the country for another (non-railway) forum.
I will start the ALR on June 3rd, with this expiring on the 9th June.
I want to hold my first meetup on this day in...
I regularly travel from Chesham to Seaford via Brighton to visit my grandparents.
On my way home this evening I will have to arrive at Brighton 30 minutes early - the train to London leaves at the same time that the train from Seaford arrives.
Same on the way to Seaford, the Brighton train...
I boarded the late running 07:41 bus from Chesham Broadway to Hemel Hempstead this morning holding a cup of coffee which had a lid on it. I showed the driver my ticket, and he said 'no drink'. His accent was quite strong (polish I think) and I didn't hear what he said at first, so asked him what...
Currently on the departure boards, a train operated by Chiltern Railways is to leave Birmingham New Street at 22:33 and call at stations via Marston Green, Coventry and Aylesbury Vale Parkway and arrive at 21:22.
Obviously this is an error, but how on earth did they manage to mess up like this...
I was penalty fared yesterday on a Met train between Wembley Park and Finchley Road.
I had come from Chesham and was going to Victoria.
I hadn't tapped in at Chesham because I did not have enough money on my Oyster card to complete my journey and the ticket issuing facility was not...
Had this idea for a thread, dunno if it's been done before, but here goes!
Post a picture of yourself either on a train or at a station.
And just by complete coincidence my postcount is 407, the number of the train I am pictured on!
What on earth is this all about?
Screenshot sent to me by a friend on request.
I saw this on the live arrival boards for Marylebone - what's going on? It's a conspiracy!
I just read that a parliamentary non-timetabled train (1852 Newhaven Marine - Lewes) still ran from this station daily in early 2009. Is this still the case?
I've just booked tickets for travel to windermere for July.
I have three friends coming with, but we are all booking separately. One of them has already booked, and he has been given a seat nowhere near me in the train. We want to sit together on the longer Virgin journey.
The train we're...
Hello,
I'm having trouble finding cheap fares for London to Bishop Auckland.
I am travelling at about 10am on the 7th May, returning 8th May at about 1600, but this is pretty flexible.
I can also go to Durham if it's cheaper.
I'm considering flying to Newcastle if I can't get a...
I went out to get some pictures of the S Stock on the Met today, it turned up after a while. These pictures are from a bridge just south of Northwood.
Looking at home already.
Although this looks like daylight, it's actually a 30 second shutter speed with torches moved around the tunnel for the entire shot.
In no particular order.

I noticed the other day a few leaflets at Marylebone which claim that Network Rail are going to be cleaning the roof of diesel crud, allowing in more light.
Dunno if its been posted already, but this is good news I suppose!
I'm going to Harrogate with my mum on May 10th, returning on the 14th. I was wondering how I can get there the cheapest, maybe going from St Pancras to Leeds is cheaper than from Kings Cross?
I have no idea. I've been struggling to find fares which meet our spec.
Cheers.
