My source informs me that a similar incident occurred at Wymondham just a few weeks prior, whereby the same signal box, (Thetford panel), incorrectly gave farm traffic permission to cross as an East Midlands Trains service was approaching at 75mph. Fortunately, it was just a "near miss" rather...
There might be limited demand for an additional service to Peterborough, but the Peterborough-Nottingham section on a Sunday is dead.
The more I travel on this route, the more I think a Norwich-Birmingham via Leicester service would be the best long term solution.
On the Eastern side of the route- demand simply doesn't exist outside the high summer months. There may be an illusion that the services are full leaving Norwich, because Abellio Greater Anglia weekend services to/from London are often disrupted due to engineering work, and customers end up...
That's your problem. It's only internal "guidance". It's entirely irrelevant to a customer. I'm not saying you're interpretation of the situation is wrong - but documents like this can't be relied upon.
Liverpool Stns and Hoylake are in the same fare "zone" or "cluster" for Virgin Advance Tickets, so the fares are identical.
It seems to be an availability issue rather than a higher fare applying.
I have been told that neither the tractor driver or the train driver were at fault.
You can use the process of elimination to come to your own conclusion.
I am 100% confident that RAIB will support what I have been told.
Specific seat reservations are not available, so you sit (or stand!) anywhere, but you MUST get the specific trains (and specific connecting legs if applicable).
The fares are clearly "market priced" - at the maximum that the intended audience can afford.
In my opinion, it's completely fair and reasonable- it's more money for the railway - and ultimately allows for cheaper, some substantially so, Off Peak fares.
It doesn't really matter if there's...
Separate journeys, surely. You have a gap crossing London. If one of the tickets was to Zone U1 London etc, you'd have a through ticket IMO, but the combination you mention does not cover your entire journey.
Surely a £10 fee is required as a deterrent?
If you buy the last of an AP fare, you're preventing somebody else from getting it. If you subsequently excess it up to a walkup fare with no fee involved, you've potentially lost the railway an additional customer, who may not have been able to...
The m-tickets have to be activated BEFORE boarding the train. It shows what day and time it was activated, so an Inspector checking could see if they failed to do so, and charge them the full single/return fare.
Like any job, railway or not, you'd be better off telling us how much you would like to earn, (salary), and what you're qualifications/specific interests are. There are likely to be hundreds of different jobs in the rail industry!
I am quite sure that some of the competent members on this...
I highly doubt it is a problem.
People going out of their way to visit a heritage railway are generally not the type of person who will try to fare evade.
The legislation to prosecute does exist though, in the form of an 1889 Act.
This is incorrect as far as I know.
I believe that DfT regulated Off Peak/Super Off Peak tickets cannot be restricted in such a way, but some Off Peak/Super Off Peak tickets, such as those which are TOC Specific (like some of London Midland's) are not regulated whatsoever and can include...
Registered business addresses and the address of where these TOCs actually operate from are usually completely different locations!
Just send them a quick email and you'll get a reply within a few weeks.
You definitely will be on a hiding to nowhere if you try and start a civil claim when...
Have you actually exhausted all lines of communication? Have you rang them?
If you haven't had so much as an automatic email acknowledgement, there's a problem your end more than likely, (junk/spam email folder or sending to incorrect address).
I really don't think anybody is deliberately...
If neither the Appeal Body or the TOC has replied - and you haven't had so much as an auto email response - I'd be checking you are directing your correspondence to the correct recipients.
The next step would be to send a letter (via Recorded Delivery), addressed to the TOC Managing...
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
