Liverpool to Norwich - Direct Services

There is sparse demand on the Eastern Side, which is why trains are only 2-coaches with plenty of seats available, save for 2/3 trains in the peak hours. I don't think advertising is going to create much additional demand, because you are advertising a pretty basic and slow service, with quite...

Liverpool to Norwich - Direct Services

This Liverpool-Norwich service shouldn't really be calling at these minor stations, the 0550 from Norwich calls at Bottesford, Bingham, Aslockton, Radcliffe and Netherfield! Running a 2-hourly Class 153 between Nottingham and Grantham's bay platform would be far more useful in my opinion and...

Liverpool to Norwich - Direct Services

Sending the service via Loughborough would definitely be useful. It is quite frequent to be delayed at Grantham waiting access on to the ECML for multiple late running north and southbound services. As for the journey time "increase", I wouldn't think so really, at the moment, the Norwich...

    EMT confusion

Norwich must be a pretty boring depot then! I can't see their staff having a chance to go anywhere other than Nottingham and back! Sounds like somewhere you go to retire!

Liverpool to Norwich - Direct Services

Definitely think east of Nottingham, that Cambridge is the best destination for it, or at the very least, hourly service to Ely, then 2-hourly to Norwich, 2-hourly to Cambridge. e.g. 12:00 Norwich 13:00 Cambridge 14:00 Norwich 15:00 Cambridge 16:00 Norwich etc No additional units...

Liverpool to Norwich - Direct Services

Internal layout, first class provision, modern passenger information screens etc, 3 coaches, more luggage space. There is a 158 knocking around that has come from South West Trains - which is a far more pleasant train than anything EMT has!

Liverpool to Norwich - Direct Services

The 159s would be THE BEST to use on this line, but obviously they are required elsewhere, unless SWT is due new rolling stock?

Liverpool to Norwich - Direct Services

I get the 09:37 Sheffield - Norwich or 11:37 service there, (sometimes 14:37 if I stay over in Cambridge). Coming back to Sheffield is the 16:47/17:52 from Ely. I have a season ticket, £224.60 each WEEK, which is fairly good value really, but if anyone knows a cheaper way, I'd be happy to...

Has a Class 222 been to Norwich or Cambridge? Are they cleared to run that way?

    EMT confusion

I take it Norwich has a depot that runs the Liverpool trains?

Liverpool to Norwich - Direct Services

I want to make clear that the service is operationally ran very well, and I am sure 4 coaches west of Nottingham are required. However, I travel around 4 times a week east of Nottingham towards Ely/Cambridge, and 2 coaches towards Norwich can be excessive. I'm sure some peak trains are busy, but...

Liverpool to Norwich - Direct Services

The trains use are never busy enough for standing loads, so take some seats out! The 156 is far better than the 158. Seats are fine and there is lots of luggage space available on a nice, airy carriage! The seating is far too dense, and if they are refurbished, I imagine some seats will go.

Liverpool to Norwich - Direct Services

99% of their "investment" goes into their London routes. They run the Liverpool-Norwich route operationally quite well, but customer service wise, it's more like a Megabus/coach operation, long journey time, packed in seating, minimum service provision possible. Sell 'em cheap, stack 'em high...

Liverpool to Norwich - Direct Services

The way I experience the line (off peak) is that after Nottingham, until Ely, the 2-car train is only loaded to around 40-60% of capacity. Never seen anyone have to stand, except between Nottingham and Grantham sometimes in the evening. I just wish EMT would upgrade this route, attract more...

Liverpool to Norwich - Direct Services

Hi, I am new forum member, but travel a lot (3-4 times each week) with EMT, from Sheffield to Cambridge (changing at Ely). With the franchise announcement for Northern/TPE, and the EMT franchise being extended, does anybody know if there is likely to be a change to the Norwich to Liverpool...

    EMT confusion

1st post on the forum - only because I disagree with the sentiment of the above post. How do you know whether the guard or driver had the appropriate route knowledge for Chat Moss (via Newton-le-Willows)? If the line is blocked via Warrington Central, and the crew don't sign the diversion...
