I suppose one of the shortfalls of through carriages is that you can't lock a single carriage out of use due to damage, whilst still operating the rest of the rake. You have to take the whole rake oos.

I also think that this forum works well is because the threads are very friendly - there are no bitter arguments, trolling etc. Yes there are disagreements, but the cases are well argued and friendly.
