    Pendolino lengthening

I'm sure that when I saw 390054 on 11 car test at Rugby the standard coaches were labelled A-B-C-D-E-F-G with no letters on the 1st class coaches so obviously there has been a change of plan on the lettering since this one was delivered like this.

    Techniquest's London Bash and The Concrete Cow, 20th - 21st January 2012

66155 & 465045 is what I was told by someone who saw it at Bletchley.

    Strange loco pairings in multiple

Not on a passenger working but the most surprising multiple working I have seen was at Kenny O in August 2008 when 47501 & 37059 went through on a stoneblower move :o

6Y53 Northampton - Crewe. What was it?

IIRC 6Y53 is the headcode normally used for the electrification train. This was parked at Northampton opposite Kings Heath depot on Saturday when I was passing through.

Eurostar NoL (37)3308 + General Questions.

I'm sure I read somewhere in the past that 3307 had been in service in France but cannot remember which half set it was paired up with. As for 3308s power car this was at Brush Loughborough the last time I read anything about it.

90044 was one that was repaired and back in service shortly after its incident.

    The Pretendolino thread

You might want to check the date the original post about 90042 swapping with 90045 was made (31/12/2010)

    Class 67 duties and usage

According to the 2012 P5 book 030 is no longer fitted with cast iron brakes, although it does retain RETB equipment.
  10. Dreadnought

    Class 67 duties and usage

They are restricted to 80mph with cast iron brake blocks. I believe they were fitted as the 67s used on the Fort William sleeper were suffering from very high brake wear with the normal type of brake block fitted due to the nature of the route. --- old post above --- --- new post below ---...

    Train cancelled due to overloading!

I remember a Bank Holiday a fair few years ago being on a pair of 142s at Preston which was due to go to Blackpool North. The train was wedged throughout with more people left on the platform! An announcement was made that the train would not be departing until some passengers got us as it...

    150209

They were involved in separate incidents which resulted in both of the 522xx coaches being written off.

    325 009

325017 was renumbered 325009 after it went through the overhaul program in December 2008. It is still has one coach out of 325010 replacing one of its own. 325009 is currently out of service at Crewe IEMD and 325010 is stored at Doncaster Wood yard.

    323 South Through Rugby

I've seen a 323 at Kings Heath depot this year (seem to recall that it was 210 as well) and also saw 323211 pass through Rugby one Weds night last month. Is it possible they are going for tyre turning?

Spitfire Railtours "The Scotsman", Nov 28th

Wasn't The Devonian when RSG had an issue on the outward working so the 47 was inside for insurance reasons. Also, don't believe a Mk1 coach + a 47 weighs 200 tonnes which is stated weight that the load is over for the deltic!

NR test train @ bletchely depot

It was a standard test train, though not sure which coach it had in it this time. Its the one that runs approx every 4-6 weeks (Mon - Wed) on the Southern WCML though usually with a 31, headcodes are normally 3Q68-3Q70 dependng on which day it is on in the diagram . This is the 1st time I've...

LM Crewe - Euston now /2 operation

Tony Miles wrote in Novembers Modern Railways that if the trials are successful then the 30 350/1s would be upgraded to run at the higher speed and that the new build 350/3s would be delivered with this capability. No mention of 350/2s being upgraded as well though.

    Pendolino 390055 may be imminent

Further to MattE2010s post, excluding the bay platform (P3) it would only be P6 at Rugby that cannot fit an 11 coach pendolino (they can just about squeeze a 9 car pendolino in!).

    Remaining LM 150s

150109 went south through Rugby tonight, presumably a set swap is taking place with 150125 to enable that to depart to pastures new!
