I believe it also happened last night at Sheffield where the Man Air to Cleethorpes was cancelled at Sheffield at 1711 but was brought into 1B which blocked the Retford train into 1A

Definitely walk able. I did it and took a slight detour to the Tesco Metro in town as I did it in summer and needed a drink. You walk up into the town and take a left and head down the hill Google says a 24 mins walk
I'd maybe look at if your doing Cornwall get the sleeper down and work your way back up during the day or Vica Versa and maybe your last day getting the Sleeper back from Scotland to London then all you'll need is a ticket from Euston to Three Bridges as your rover will have run out

Have you thought about drive to Shipley and get the 06:32 up the S&C to Carlisle then 09:11 Carlisle to Glasgow arrive 10:29
Alternatively you can get a £17.50 advance Shipley to Glasgow via Bradford and Preston on your 12:01 arrival
The driver in question is medically restricted to electrics because of back problems I believe. I've took a 333 to Doncaster at 17:21 confused a lot of passengers. Then a couple of years back before the 322s arrived the 20:21 was diagramed to be a 333 but more often than not turned out a 321
The 1000 from Edinburgh is the 0921 arrival from Doncaster so be there early let them do the reservations clean it etc but once they've done the reservations before boarding starts have a walk down the outside and find the best carriage and seats so you can dive straight on and claim them
Just had a very quick trip on the evening LH 1708 Edinburgh to Haymarket the 68s sound pretty good. Shame I couldn't go further but had to train to catch back south to York.
1 question I do have is what's the difference between the braking on this and other mainline LH sets and HST braking?
