South West Trains: A confusing Brand?

Is there a obligation as to why South West Trains, is names after "south west". When its services dont actually serve anywhere in the "traditional" south west area apart from Exeter. To me the south west is Cornwall, Devon and Somerset. I know it does fliter into this area. But its main...

    HS2: I am confused!

I am little confused at High Speed..... Is the High Speed 2 a completely newly build railway line? Or is it using existing lines? Would the HS2 track be only used by High speed trains? For example a normal non HS2 service could enter the track for part of its journey?

Plymouth Friary to Mount Gold Junction

Saw the below video which was taken in 2007, and wandered if the track between Plymouth Friary and Mount Gold Junction is still intact just like the video, or has it been lifted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVHs-STeoNc&feature=related

    Greater Western Franchise post 2013?

Is it fair to say that with the tender process of the Greater Western franchise for 2013 onwards, that First will be the ultimate winner in the end? Or is it fair game? I dont see how they would risk losing the franchise by this course of action to have more long term goals and aims only for it...

Would it be feesable to run passenger services from Bodmin Parkway to Bodmin Central if the line was reopened to National Rail? Especially if the proposed extension to Wadebridge was built. It would be more feesable and i think could generate enough passengers Plymouth Saltash Liskeard...

What is happening with the Exeter to Okehampton National Rail service becoming a regular service? I was under the assumption that over year ago they stated that the service would begin operated by FGW. What is happening to it? Is it still a Sunday Rover service?

    FGW Class 142

Class 142's, they are soo soo old and i am suprised they are still operating to this date. They are very uncomfortable, they sort of shake and i dont see why the 166's can be given to south-west operations. If they can operate here that is. Are there any plans to get rid of them soon? But...

    Plymouth Station Improvments

What is the actual achievement of the improvements that are occuring at Plymouth? They have extended the station concourse towards the car park, incorparted the Cash Machine into the building. But there is no new seating, no toliets which are needed badly. The new bit looks nice and modern but...
