Trivia: Football grounds seen from trains

You can see Ibrox (Rangers) from the Ayrshire Coast line on the approach to Glasgow Central near Shields Depot

Trivia: Platforms you never see certain trains depart from

I used to live in Largs: The 0722 and 1953 services to Glasgow Central use these platforms. Also used to store the last services from Central. Generally only ever used when Platform 2 is occupied (but the numbering is confusing)

Finding Out Number of Carriages on a service

Thanks for this, doesn't show carriages per se but does indicate "front/rear 3 coaches" in some cases so still very useful

Finding Out Number of Carriages on a service

Hello Not sure if this is the right place to post but does anyone have a source that can tell me how many carriages a given service would be scheduled to operate with? Particularly the routes between Haymarket and Glasgow Queen Street across each day Thanks

Question re number of zones required SPT Zonecard

It is fine to purchase R1 G3 and G2 as zones to travel from Paisley to Hyndland. Having commuted along this was for years I know this is valid and does not breach the Zonecard rules. The breach would only be if G1/G2 AND another from G3-G8 (e.g. two G zones only) were attempted to be purchased...

Minimum Distance between two stations to make a return open

Thanks, I knew about the vagueness but wasn't sure how else to express it, when I say open I meant an anytime or off peak return valid for one month

Minimum Distance between two stations to make a return open

Just a general query. I’m thinking it’s 50 miles but want to be sure

    Glasgow Central XC excess

Yes it was, "valid on CrossCountry services only" I travelled XC on the way there, Scotrail back

    Glasgow Central XC excess

Actually I went through the barrier at Queen Street without it flagging up my ticket. The conductor didn't question the ticket either (probably due to the drunks on the same carriage *sigh*)

    Edinburgh Gateway - A White Elephant ?

It's not so much a problem during the day it's when it goes past 7pm and it drops to one per hour, with it making it harder to make connection to/from Glasgow

    Edinburgh Gateway - A White Elephant ?

Seriously hoping this isn't considered. I live a two minute walk away from South Gyle station and it is so convenient for me to use to get to Haymarket/Waverley (a return is £1.85 with a 16-25 railcard, even without the railcard it's a cheaper option than by bus/tram at £3.20). For buses/trams...

    Largs to Edinburgh

Gateway would have been ideal but because I would be coming from the Glasgow area and not Fife, it's not ideal. Think my best bet is to get a return to Haymarket, split at Queen Street with PlusBus for the tram. This would come to about £15 from Glengarnock (or £17 from Largs).

    Largs to Edinburgh

Hello Trying to plan a journey from Largs to Edinburgh Park (or Haymarket if need be) for a job interview for a week today. Ideally looking to get to either Haymarket for 14:00 or Edinburgh Park for about 14:30 ish. The interview is at an office near the Gyle Shopping Centre so at some point...

    Changing an advanced ticket

It's an Advance ticket, so it's £10 to change the ticket? Doesn't seem to be fair given the fact I bought it for £6.35 in the first place

    Changing an advanced ticket

Hello, I tried contacting scotrail about this but no response. I am due to travel on the 19:41 service from Glasgow Queen Street to Perth on Friday on an advanced ticket which I have already printed from the station. I am now considering getting the train an hour later due to some...
