    Northern 323 diagrams

Northern have said the Liverpool-Warrington stopper will not be returning. Probably because it had the highest subsidy per mile of all Northern services.

    Northern 323 diagrams

This query gets brought up a lot but we never get an answer to it lol. We are told Northern doesn’t need/can’t afford the off lease 323s and that they existing 323/331 pool will make do… I imagine we’ll see 769 will pan up the whole journey initially.

    Northern 323 diagrams

Contractors have been out in the last few weeks prepping the extension area. Hopefully nearly ready.

    Northern 323 diagrams

59% in daily use is still very low isn't it? Even the 769s are expected to manage 75%

    Northern 323 diagrams

It really depends on 323 availability and how far Northern get with their 323 crew training. For what it’s worth most/all Blackpool-Manchesters will be timed as 323 from the timetable change.

Not Guilty - Unbeliveably stupid behaviour on the North Wales Coast Line

Ignoring the specifics of the case. What's the point of having a jury if the judge has told them the required outcome?

    Northern Short Forming Again

This is mental. Northern currently has one of the largest oversupplies of EMUs on the west side in recent years.

Stations with "platforms" which could in principle be used but (almost) never are

I think there is one north facing bay at Preston on the RES side. On Google Earth there’s a 158 parked in it.

    Northern Short Forming Again

It’s amazing how Northern threads come back to Blackpool and ASLEF being the problem. Blackburn for whatever reason functions amazingly in comparison. It should be allowed to thrive and massively increase in scale.

    Longest scheduled stop?

Longest scheduled stop outside a station would be Northern’s Windermere surely? Frequently waits just outside the station for a platform for around 20 minutes. 24 mins on todays https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:G30140/2024-10-15/detailed#allox_id=0

    TransPennine class 397

See above post outlining Platforms 1-3 at Manchester Airport being extended to 300m. It’s Oxford Road that’s the permanent problem.

    TransPennine class 397

You go down the 6/7 route then you rule out double sets as an option no? With the exception of Oxford Road every TPE Scotland call can take 10x23m

Northern Unit Refurbishments and depot allocations.

The ex-WMT 323s will receive no further additional work internally. It was discussed a few pages back there’s no money to do it.

    195s cleared for Darwen line?

All depots have a spirited friendly competition no? Blackpool is slightly unique as they happily force action to detriments the staff at other Northern depots.

    195s cleared for Darwen line?

Effective at being detrimental to ASLEEF members of Blackburn sure. Effective at being detrimental to passengers and the railway in general? Absolutely.

Disruption due to overhead problems in Manchester today 09/09/2024

A relative of mine started at University of Salford today and I suggested try getting there by rail. Of course they get caught up in this on Day 1…

    Manchester Piccadilly - Euston reduction?

Would there theoretical capacity to turn back at Stockport?

    195s cleared for Darwen line?

Hahahaha I love it. Every thread ends up being about how useless Blackpool ASLEF is.

    195s cleared for Darwen line?

https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:G34522/2024-09-06/detailed#allox_id=0 This working ran earlier today. I have never seen 195s go between Bolton and Blackburn before. Does this mean they could in theory work the Darwen services or does that need extra clearance checks? All...

The UK and white elephant stations

Reston isn’t credibly served. You’ve got two and four gaps in the timetable. Before construction there was talk of the Scotrail stopper to Berwick and Liverpool-Edinburgh being hourly. What happened?
