This working ran earlier today. I have never seen 195s go between Bolton and Blackburn before.

Does this mean they could in theory work the Darwen services or does that need extra clearance checks? All platforms can handle 158s but I believe the 195s have different dimensions.

Like you say presumably it would take some platform interface tests, as they can fit through but the other major problem is that Blackburn depot do not currently sign the traction

195s have previously worked empty stock via Darwen once or twice over the last year or so.

Do they not?

There's a booked 195 on 1B49 2258 Leeds to Blackburn, which works onto Blackburn depot.

There's a booked 195 on 1B11 0613 Blackburn to Blackpool North, which is formed off Blackburn depot.

Those must be worked by Blackburn drivers, else another depot will be working them? (Blackpool/Man Vic?)

Geeves is spot on. Blackburn don't sign 195s. The services you refer to are worked by Blackpool.

Yup Taxi to Blackburn King St on the early morning one and then works it to Preston

On the late night one the Blackpool man does 1819 BPN to York and then back to Blackburn (with a PNB in Leeds) where they then put 1B49 away and get a taxi home at 1am zzz

The reason is Blackpool ASLEF kicked up a huge fuss over Blackburn signing 195s (and the route between Blackpool and Leeds) and Northern backed down.

Hahahaha I love it. Every thread ends up being about how useless Blackpool ASLEF is.

Can anybody confirm that 195's are being used on the route to Wigan. Two were in the sidings at Wigan Wallgate on Wednesday. I saw 195 at Wigan Wallgate 09.40am which had come Manchester Victoria this morning which appeared to be in passenger use.

Thank you for any information.

Various units have been used over the past week or two due to the bridge works in Castleton meaning the 158s can't get to this side.
9:40 yesterday would've had 195024 + 195003 just arrived from Manchester, and 195010 to run the 9:49 towards Manchester.

Usually there's only the one pair running, but yesterday there was a third unit out.

First time I've ever seen a 195 in Wigan Wallgate.

This could be why we're seeing 15x units on Hope Valley at present instead of the usual 3 car 195s.

I didn't realise two depots were in competition.

All depots have a spirited friendly competition no?
Blackpool is slightly unique as they happily force action to detriments the staff at other Northern depots.
