STM to operate barriers at Manchester Victoria

Whats the situation there? Is there a form of NFC support that reads the card and opens the gate or does a member of staff have to check it and manually open a gate.

STM to operate barriers at Manchester Victoria

I thought that originally but was told I was incorrect. Thanks for the clarification.

STM to operate barriers at Manchester Victoria

This is gonna cause trouble. The barrier needs to spit out every single ticket with Manchester stations as the destination as we can use the Metrolink in the city zone with that type of ticket. Also what about all the over 60's with their TfGM 'bus passes'?

The week starting the 4th August I need to travel Lostock to Chorley and back for work during the peaks. Should I expect ram packed services? :(

    Chorley blockade

Which platforms are the problem. Last time i was at Blackrod I disembarked a four car DMU and noticed surplus platform behind and infront so it must be elsewhere.

    Virgin extension until 2017

I use VT's Edinburgh services and have not noticed any changes or trends in their punctuality since December. What I have noticed though is we used to have maybe a single 221 and now we have double 221s or a 390. No going back please. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- In which...

    Chorley blockade

I am guessing the train will divide at Bolton. With one of the DMU units continuing to Preston via Wigan North Western.

Class 185s sounding a bit sick

Bolton passengers use what they can and have just as much right to use these TPE services as those travelling further a field. Yesterday I was returning from Manchester Piccadilly at around 8pm. There are only 2-3tph towards Bolton at that time so I went for a TPE service to Barrow over waiting...

Has electrification to Windermere been authorised?

There are one daily service which does this. One TPE service runs Bolton -> Wigan North West -> Preston and continues to Barrow. Runs at about 22:40 at Bolton I think.

Has electrification to Windermere been authorised?

Where have the 'dates' that we have come from? December 2016 is frequently quoted for Windermere and December 2017 is quoted for Lostock Junction to Wigan North Western. Are these official estimates...

    Derailment at Crewe?

Are such requests only accepted if Virgin are expected to accept Northern tickets as well?

    Virgin extension until 2017

I hope they a programmed to spit out any Greater Manchester ticket, passengers can retain them to use on the Metrolink inside the city zone.

    Virgin extension until 2017

Bolton's commuters have just as much right to be on Transpennine's services as you do. They use any service they can towards Bolton because the stoppers are so overloaded. If really you want a seat, do Manchester to Preston with Transpennine then onwards with Northern's ex-Liverpool services...

    Bolton>Manchester electrification schedule/alternatives?

Northern Rail told the Bolton News it will be strengthened to four cars. Will this be enough, short answer no. Hence the extra buses they are laying on. Six cars would be do nicely.

Alliance Rail (GNWR) gets Network Rail approval

That argument infuriates me too. I can't remember which thread it was in but someone was doing a comparison between Bolton and the Wigan stations and despite Wigan having a direct connection to the mainline it only had 25k more long distance travellers a year compared to Bolton.
