Can anybody recommend a book that introduces digital control of a model railway layout to a complete novice please?

Does Holmes chord in Rotherham ever see loco hauled trains? Or has it ever? Or passenger trains other than local dmus? Has a charter train ever used it? Or do freights use it? Anyone got pictures of the above (if any ever happened that is!)

Has there been every number used from 01 to 92 used in loco class numbering? How were/are the numbers picked? Why were gaps left and then filled eg 87 then 89 now 88. Not sure what got me thinking of this but if anyone can help that would be great! And what happens when we hit 99 and all...

It should be part of an intercity franchise. Years ago Sea Containers were going to bid and put it with GNER. Sadly they pulled out.... I say split TPE and put some with East Coast, some with West. Or add it to XC.

I have travelled with a few TOCs at weekends recently.... Virgin, XC, Arriva Wales, TPE, Northern.... all woefully overcrowded.

And they even got rid of catering trolleys....

Is there a direct ferry to Hamburg from the UK? Or a ferry to elsewhere with a short train hop to Hamburg?

Can anyone tell me anything about the Hayle branch in Cornwall? Route, trains, services etc. I just remember going over a level crossing somewhere away from the mainline when holidaying as a 70s child :-) Info and pics would be great!

I can remember being at Shefffield once in the early 80s (?) and a 31 and half dozen 'past their best' mark ones on a tea time train to St Pancras vice HST. Took it to Chesterfield for the thrill! Lol.
